Default Mystery 22 rifle magazine

I have not been able to identify this 22 L R magazine as it is unmarked in any way. perhaps someone on the forum will know what rifle it's for.

That looks like a Marlin 780/25 magazine. Does it hold 7 rounds?

Standard magazine for the Marlin Model 80 bolt action 22 rifle that they made for years. They started making and selling it in the 30's.
Pre WW2 they made it as the Ranger Model 36 & 34A as well and it uses the same mag.

The Marlin 80 became the 780.
The Glenfield 20 & 25 were the same rifles within their era of mfg and used the exact same magazine again.

They all take the same magazine.
The models are discontinued now.

The mags are still available as the rifles are around in large numbers.
New mags sell for around $15 to $20 depending on where and who you buy from.

Yep, it is the magazine for the Marlin model 80 DL, I have two of the older ones that are all metal. Use them quite often.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

It will also fit a Marlin-Glenfield model 25, which is a nice bolt action rifle. It is a seven round magazine. I have had my rifle for 41 years.
