Default ...Violin Case Gun...1930...

...This sawed-off shotgun was carried in a violin case to the Port Newark National Bank in Newark, NJ on February 28, 1930. Three gunmen – determined to seize $25,000 – staged a wild west gun battle at the entrance of the bank in the center of the city, at 10:45 A.M. Osie Danneman, a black messenger for the bank, was the hero, saving $25,000. Photo shows the violin-cased sawed-off shotgun...

I had a short but legal (18") single shot that would fit in that case. My wife loved that gun. You could spin around in the camper's tightest place and still have the gun up and ready for action. With No. 4 Buck the pattern was 1 inch for every yard of distance! At anything resembling self defense distance it was truly wicked!

I just happen to have an extremely old violin and case in my basement. I think I'll throw out the violin and find a big hogleg to put in it. Just for display of course.

In the movie "Joe verses The Volcano", Joe Banks (Tom Hanks) buys a portable Violin case bar, for his trip to The Volcano. 20-25 years ago this inspired me to make a picnic basket from a viola case. I went to a little jewelry shop and ordered in some of the new composition pewter. Two 6" plated and Two 8 ounce cups. I already had some silverware that was self contained with little salt and pepper shakers in the carrying case. Two clear Lexan, break-down Champaign flutes, Black satin table cloth & napkins, along with a candle lantern & matches. I always keep small tins of oysters, salmon, crackers and stone ground mustard in there for emergency romantic occasions!

Sometimes I surprise the wife, and we just swing into a creek side clump of trees with some deli food and enjoy God's beautiful creations!

One of my younger friends borrowed this unusual set up, to propose to his now wife of 17 years.

For carrying a machine gun; I carried the Silenced MAC-10 in a gym bag. just like John Wayne in "McQ"
