The 9MM cartridge has been my favorite for some years, and I've had several 9MM 1911s, Colt, Kimber, Springfield, Dan Wesson, STI,etc.. I suspect the rising popularity of 9MM in general is a major reason we're seeing so many 1911s being chambered in the cartridge lately. I enjoy the moderate recoil (even with the most energetic 9MM ammo), flat trajectory, accuracy, and boring reliability of my 9MM 1911s. Reason enough for me to own them. I have other 9MMs, including Hi Powers, but still enjoy the 1911 9MMs.

BTW, My current Dan Wesson and Kimber 9MM 1911s, and the STI I used to own, were not magazine sensitive at all. Any 9MM magazine in any of these 9MM 1911s worked just fine.....

My 1911 38 super I have a 9mm barrel on it now.
Ammo is cheaper and I reload.
But my BHP is a better one for me.
Then again, I like shooting my 1941 Luger.
It's as old as me but in better shape... LOL!

I won't rehash all the reasons stated above about the popularity of 9mm 1911's, I'll just say I really enjoy shooting them. I own a couple Glocks, ok for what they are designed to do, but NO soul. I own 2 BHP's, a 1951 and a 1994 Israeli Police turn in, I love the way they feel in my hand and enjoy shooting them. But at the end of the day, there's just something about a 1911. I have several in .45 and these shown below in 9. They are my favorite range toy and a couple are in my carry rotation, the DW Vigil and the Ruger LW CMD 9. Also pictured is a DW Valor Blue and a Colt Competition.
