Default Ruger Single-Seven Bisley in .327 Federal Magnum

There have been a couple of thread recently about forum members either buying, or having made, S&W target revolvers in .32 S&W Long.

I've been wantng to get a fun gun I could shoot .32 S&W Long wadcutters through, and recently picked up this Ruger Single-Seven Bisley in .327 Federal magnum. I was worried that a chamber cut for the much longer .327 could be a problem with the .32 Long, but it seems to have worked out okay:

The other gun is a Colt OMT Heavy barrel in .38 S&W Special. Both shot at ten yards, offhand; my joints and eyes just won't shoot much better than this on a fairly dim indoor range (or anywhere else ), so I'm happy. As you can see, I pulled one of the seven Ruger shots a little. I was shooting Fiocchi 100 grain wadcutters.

The Ruger trigger has a bit of smooth and consistent creep, and I was thinking of taking it to Clements Custom Guns, which is less than an hour from me. However, I'm loathe to mess with it now.

The Ruger indexes great, unlike six shot Rugers I've known. It's unusual to me that this is the only caliber marking on the gun, I don't think I've ever seen a revolver barrel without that information (or the maker's name) before:

Since the "warning read the manual" falderol is on the underside of the barrel next to the extractor rod housing, I thought at first the barrel didn't have any markings at all. I like not having to see the cautionary stuff.

I'd like to give a shout out to Colt forum member BakersDozen for sharing information with me about this handgun.

Good info - I've wanted a .327 for some time now. I have a prolly 30-year old .32HR Single-Six and I like the unfluted cylinder and the fit and finish on yours. I think I'll put my old .32 up on the classifieds and try to get one of the new ones ...

The Bisley Single-Seven is a Lipsey's special. I did see a couple of new ones on auction sites, but had my dealer order one to support the local folks. The price was close, no problemo.
