Default Mauser 3000L/6000L considering a purchase

Gents I could use a little help.

Was killing time in a shop the other day an I saw an attractive lefty bolt rifle in a mannlicher stock. As I am lefty with rifles I always have to take a look.

Anyhow it was a Mauser Gmbh 6000L. I question this designation as I could not find anything referring to a 6000L, but I did find a refrence to a Mauser 3000L so I'm betting that's what I was looking at. Anyhow, it was attractive, the action was smooth, and its caliber was .338 Win Mag. It had been used but not hard, and clearly was someone's custom rifle back in the day. The price was attractive.

I have a mind to go back for it, but is there anything I should look for on these rifles, concerns, issues, were they good/junk? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks much,

PF

I’ve had three of them.
As I have posted, one was a 243 that I wish I hadn’t sold.
The other two were 375 H&H, had no intention of keeping them.
At that time, my ‘big’ gun was a Savage 110LH in 338.
I flinched so bad when I shot it that I couldn’t shoot it on the bench.
Had to shoot it across my the hood of my pickup.
Also had a 7 Mag, 30-06 and a 270.
The 3000 design compared to classic 98 appears to be a newer looking design, sort of more modern and looks not as robust.
My hunting days are over, I kept my 30-06.
