Default 686 or GP 100?

Both slightly used: 686-600$ and 550$ for the Ruger.
The S&W barrel cant killed the deal. Offered five for
the Ruger and signed on the line.
Not near the S&W trigger but it's still a keeper.

Passed on a good looking m10 at another store..... it's priced right too. Thinking I'll be thru that little town again tomorrow

Thats a nice looking revolver. I love my GP100. A little internal polishing and the Wolf spring kit and I think you will be amazed.

Nice revolver. I like the GP100. It's a very robust design. Not just the frame, but the yoke tube is very thick, so it will resist endshake very well.

That unfluted cylinder looks great.

While my choice would have been different,I must admit that you were confronted to a win win situation;you could not make a bad decision .Just as if it would have been like in a situation: ''am I going with the blonde or the brunette''?
Congrats and enjoy.

Nice score.

I have a 3" GP100 Wiley Clapp that I love. I've been considering selling my other 357s, but that one is a keeper.

I bought a six inch, stainless, full under lug barrel GP-100 somewhere around 1988 or 89. It was my second 357 Magnum revolver and was the reason I parted with my first 357 Magnum, a Dan Wesson 15-2 with a 6 inch HV barrel and an 8 inch barrel (stupid move). The GP-100 proved to have a reasonable trigger, but some polishing really made the trigger come alive. The GP-100 with its six inch barrel proved to be just as accurate and gave the same velocities as the Dan Wesson with its 8 inch barrel. Like I said, I foolishly let the DW go and kept the Ruger, but years later I did pick up another DW 15-2, but it wears a 4 inch HV barrel and it, like the Ruger, is not leaving my collection.

Enjoy that GP-100. They tend to be very accurate, provide high velocities with magnum loads, and are incredibly strong and durable.

My intentions were to make an offer on the m10-5 but I couldn't feel the magic while holding it.... another 200$ would buy that 686. Off to the next fun store. Made a 575 OTD offer and signed on the line.

Blonde or Brunette huh??? I had to have them both!
686-6 barrel cant is very slight.

Win-win again.... its been a good week

Can someone date it from the shipping label?

Nice looking guns, can’t have enough 357’s. The long triggers take some time to get used to but I’ve grown accustomed to them.

I really need a 3” and 6” gp100. I don’t carry the 3” SP101 anymore so that one might go towards a 3” gp...

I looked long and hard at a blued 4 inch GP100 that was chambered in .38 Special. Turned out that the love wasn’t there.

The gp100 is probably going back to the factory for a redux... two dragging cylinders.... I'm confident they will adjust accordingly..

The 686 and the several thousands round count new 617 are slick as a whistle ...years ago; when asked a good friend replied: "The reason I own only S&W guns....because they work!!"

I'm generally a S&W guy when it comes to revolvers but that is a handsome GP100. Good shooter too! I don't think I've ever seen one with an unfluted cylinder. I would have scoffed that one up too!
