Default Norinco NP29 M-1911A1 9mm Pistol

I purchased this one new a few months ago for $329.00 Canadian and it's a great shooter, I have put over 500 rounds down range and not one hiccup, it is a fairly accurate gun but I would like a little better sights for it, what iron sights would you put on it for taking out to the range for target practice?

I do have a few S&w's but wanted a cheap 1911 to try one out and to be honest a little tweaking on the sights and this is a keeper.

What's wrong with the stock sights? How accurate is ".... it is a fairly accurate gun...." in terms of group size@range? One thing I have learned on gun websites is that one man's "fairly accurate gun" is a shotgun/paperweight to the next guy.

I'd use the sights that are on it. I wish I ran across the Norinco 1911 here. Had one years ago, foolishly let it go. But if I could get them for $329 -- even US dollars -- I'd buy two...

It's not horrible and for a off the shelf never messed with I can do 6-7 inch groups at 20 yards but I think with an adjustable rear sight I could do better.

With my S&W 14-2 it tightens up a fair bit but that's not comparing apples to apples.

Works out to about $250.00 U.S.

An adjustable sight will only move your groups, not tighten them.

To tighten groups, you might consider a finer front sight, as already mentioned an adjustable rear sight will move your group around. Otherwise, some mechanical mods. can tighten 1911 grouping

Some gunsmiths refuse to work on them because the metal is hard as a woodpeckers lips. A trigger job will tighten the groups. 125 or 135 hand loads will group better than ball ammo in a steel 9mm for me.

My Gunsmith back in the day was Ikey Starks in Denver and he built this Custom 1911 out of a Norinco 1911. It's an awesome pistol and he told me to go buy a Norinco because of it's good steel.

He also modified this 1911 Colt Government with a better trigger, Novak combat sights
