A Navy marked German Mauser pistol
I added this to my German military collection a Kriegsmarine (Baltic area) O marked Mauser pistol. It also came with a German marked military holster that was made into a shoulder holster....probably by a GI. You can tell by its constuction that it is dated and well made......Both the pistol and the holster drew my attention. ......My wife made the comment that you taught 12 and 13 year olds too long.......Why are you wearing that gun around the house all day? Are you expecting trouble? (Only 3000 were made in the 2nd variation, and most probably ended up at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean on subs or surface ships. )
Thanks for looking, The O on the grip strap means the Baltic Sea area 2nd variation. Each of the 4 variation had their own letter meaning what part of the Atlantic Ocean where they were stationed. I think less than 23,000 of the 1934 marked Navy were made up until 1941. As mentioned, 3000 for the Baltic area......O marked.
Joe

My wife’s uncle has one of these that his dad picked up while he was in Germany in WWII. It has its original holster with it also. He’s not a gun guy and plans to sell it to me one day. Every time I see him, which is only a couple times a year, I ask him if he’s ready to sell it. Last time I asked he asked how much I’d give him for it. I’m still researching the value on these. You have a very nice example there.

Hope you get it soon. Hopefully the price will be a lot cheaper than buying off Gunbroker or an LGS. Bet they are a harder to find model than P-38s. The build of it looks super sturdy. Thanks for showing.

That looks to be the 1934 model of the 1914 and judging by the serial # I would say from 1939 maybe 1940. What are the Navy marks and does the O.2723 have something to do with these marks? I have never seen the very desirable late model swastika marked gun before. I have an early production 1914 from 1915 with military marking in front of the rear sight. It is my understanding that not much changed for the 1934. I read that parts from the 14 would interchange with the 34. I would like to find a period correct holster for mine. Your gun looks to be in very nice condition, thanks for sharing.

The main difference distinguishing the Model 1934 from the Model 1914 is the grip shape. The pattern of the stampings also changed over time.
I have a not very nicely preserved, heavily used Third Variant post-WW I Model 1914 manufactured in 1919.
This site gives a good compact overview over the changes and variants:
