Reising 22 Auto
I got to handle a friends Reising 22 pistol, I had never heard of them before but this one was in mint condition. They were made for abour 4 or 5 years in the early 20's you can find pictures of them on the net and one is on gunsamerica for sale. They have a 6" barrel with a hammer, a very neat looking and handling pistol that should only be used with standard velocity ammo. They were made in Hartford Con. after looking they look a lot like the early High Standard model B that had a hammer. Does any savvy forum members know if it could have evolved in to the High Standard auto pistol? Thanks for looking and I hope you can answer the question. Jeff

it's from the same reising that made the sub machinegun. reising was actually a colt employee before he branched out on his own.
here's an article from american handgunner magazine on the reising 22 pistol.

22 Auto
Ace thanks for your quick reply, the fellow that has this auto had the only H&R Reising full auto rifle that I have ever shot. Both weapons were quailty built, I still wonder if the High Standad and it were not cousins. Jeff

I have always wanted a Reising Bearcat pistol. I saw ONE in
mint condition in the box at a small show in WVa. It wasn't for
sale. I don't see them that often and the ones I see are beat.
I have never shot one but they feel good in the hand. I don't
think there is any HI Standard connection. There was another
company Fiala? From same era that made manual and semi
auto pistols, I think that was company tied to HS.

Heiser made holsters for the Reising with their logo and this one. The Reising stamped holsters are as hard to find as the pistols.
