Default Help Selecting Grips

The picture below is my Colt Officer's ACP bright stainless purchased new in 85 or 86. I want to put Grashorn stag panels on it. My question is what would look better, no bark, very light bark, moderate bark, or full bark. I have never had stags before, and I am kind of looking for input.

Thanks,

Pete

Pete: This is probably one of those questions that lead to the personal preferences of individuals.

I like stag grips, and my personal preference has always been for those that have a strong display of bark. Not only do I find these to be more attractive, but the added texture provides a more secure grip on the pistol.

Also, especially in recent years of escalating costs, the heavily "barked" stag grips are seen less frequently. Selecting the antler portion from which to cut the grip blanks is the key to the final result, and concentrating on heavy bark means a higher level of waste in the antler material. It is much easier and more cost effective to cut blanks as the antler allows, rather than focusing on final appearances when laying out the material for cutting.

Unless you're trying for a 'Ivory" look which would be no-bark...... the more the better...... otherwise you are missing out on the stag look!

Can't really understand this .It is like asking someone to pick out your wife for you , You are the one that must be satisfied ,Not someone else.
Unless you don't have a good track record and the person you ask has been married for 50 years to the same wife

I thought with shinny I wanted ivory, so I went with buffalo bone. This should at least give you an idea what smooth looks like.

Personal choice! More bark would however give a little better grip - but you need to look, feel and try some to decide your personal preference. I prefer medium, but that's just me.
