.357 Magnum survey
Posts are not needed but feel free. Due to a different thread I decided to see what the average number of .357 Magnums is amongst Forum members, or get an idea of the average number, anyway.
Simple question - how many .357 magnum revolvers do you own, and that's any brand.

I'm glad you specified revolvers. I was about to count ammo.

One Lone Magnum
Yes that's all I have. Just the one.
But it is the Ultimate Combat Magnum a 681 with no dash. Owning this there isn't a need for any others.

That's kind of my take on it too...practicality. I've got a 586 4" and an 8-shot 627 PC snub. I can't really imagine what I'd need beyond that. Besides, I can only carry one or two at the most.

I currently have 4...three Model 19s and a Model 28.
Over the years I've owned a lot of .357 Magnums but honestly it is a caliber that just has never thrilled me all that much. In N frames I prefer caliber that begin point four. In J frames full house .357 are painful. It does shine in medium framed revolvers like our beloved K frame. Most medium frames have enough weight to tame the recoil and they carry pretty well. But even in my K frames I find the .38 Special to really be the ideal caliber. It has enough power to do most jobs and does it well. If I need more power I tend to skip over the .357 and move up to a .44 Magnum.
But of course that is just me.

I am at WAY more than 20
The Model 27/327/627 family of revolvers is what I started with
This is probably half of then.
There are 3 or 4 lever actions, an LAR Grizzly, Desert Eagle, several single action revolvers, perhaps 8 or 9 J-frames, several more commemeratives
Now that I am actually looking at this list, it is more than I thouht I had

Two .357s
My recently acquired Model 13 and a Rossi Puma in .357 that some previous owner really tuned up - nice trigger, feeds .38s just as well as .357.

While I don't chase down discussion on the Texas Rangers Commemorative 19-3, this is the first time I've seen the rare engraved one, pretty rare gun I'll guess, and very cool!

I had three S&W Model 28s but have sold two - the 4" and 6" but kept the second 6" one. They were all made in the late 1960's.

I've believe that the .357 Magnum platform is the ideal revolver, it will allow you to safely shoot a wide assortment of ammo. Everything from mild to wild.
Added:
I've not done an accurate count lately, but I can state that I'm lucky enough to own 19 or 20 Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum revolvers. As I posted before each one is the end-all-be-all of revolvers, most of which are "K" frames.

It really is an ideal handgun/cartridge. It has the best power to weight ratio IMHO.

I am down a few, but still have at least 8 - presently don’t have access and can’t count them...or caress them.

Honestly, I only have one. If they made a Security Six in .44sp or .45acp I wouldn't have a .357
I think it's one of the great calibers but just don't care for it.
For me, The .38 gets it done. If I want more, I want more lead.

There was a time I sold them off and went big bore only, but since I cast and roll my own I got one, then another and so on.
They feel the same as the big bores and use less powder and lead, so they are my economy models. Cheaper to shoot.
That said, they've been multiplying in the safe.

I'm a dummy when it comes to putting photos up here - I can do 5 and then it tells me that's it. So I can't post pictures of all 9 of mine. Here's my list, though.
19-3 2.5" Original finish unknown, hard chromed before I bought it.
27-2 4" Nickel
27-2 5" Nickel
27-2 6" Blue
27-2 6.5" Blue
27-2 8-3/8ths Blue
27-2 8-3/8ths Nickel
28-2 4"
28-2 6"
List will expand once my wallet does. I need a 3.5" Model 27 or 27-2, but those all run into prices with a comma.

15 at the moment. A 340, 13-3, multiple 19's and 65's, a 66, a 1950 .357, multiple 28's, a 627-0, a pair of GP-100's, and a bunch of SP-101's. My first gun was a .357, which I still have. I own more .357's than any other caliber, although .38 Special is a close second.

All of my 357s are Smith & Wessons. A 19-3, a 66-1, a Registered Magnum, a pre 27, a 27-2. So 5.

7...
Pre-27 6"
66-2 3"
65-3 3"
60-10 3" (2)
GP-100 4" stainless
1968 Colt Trooper 4"
But because I'm more into .41 Magnum and .38 Super they hardly get used at all...
Bob

.357M in MHO is the best pistol cartridge in the world. I bought my first one in 1965. I own more .357Ms than my .45ACP revolvers and .44Ms combined.
A 6 in. Python went out of the house with me every day for 40 some years but I gave it too my son. I found a NIB 3 1/2 in, 27-2 and that is what I use now. Larry

Just one a K frame 4" 19-2 Model. Circa 1963. Shoot it often and just love it. A well worn K frame

I voted four or less but missed one so should have been 8 or less.
