Hi all,
I picked up a stainless steel one on Gunbroker about four weeks ago. Out of the box she was very tight and VERY well made.
I cleaned and lubed her and off to the range.
She ate all of my FMJ's of course and then my Hornady defense rounds without one hic-up. I ordered a set of OEM black plastic grips with the thumb grooves from Midwest Gun Works. When I put them on they fit perfectly.
I did bob the hammer to get rid of the hammer bite.
Don't hesitate to buy one. It is an exact copy of the Browning high power. I watched a couple of video's on the internet and the parts are completely interchangeable.
I have had several High Powers over the years and they got traded for this or that. I feel pretty dumb now, but they never made a stainless steel one so, I am super happy anyway.
I haven't replaced the thumb safety yet and in fact after practicing with an empty gun for the last three weeks have become completely proficient at clicking it off and back on. I has loosened up considerably after a lot of practice to where it has a nice "snick" to it. It just took some getting used to it. I will probably order an extended one from Cylinder and Slide sometime soon though.
I have fallen in love with it and have been carrying it off duty since I first shot her and qualified with it three weeks ago. She is super accurate.
So, yes go out buy one and enjoy it. I give it 5 stars across the board. I am a military firearms instructor and the firearms instructor for my Sheriff's Office with over 23 years of service, so I have been around the block, bought and sold too many firearms since I was 18. This is a must gun to own and this particular High Power from Tisas is fantastic.
