Colt Officer's ACP with new shoes

My 1985 Colt Officer's ACP I bought new in 1985 with new Grashorn grips. Gun was originally brushed stainless. While living in CT at the time, I walked it through the front door of the Colt custom shop for polishing the outside, and have the trigger mechanism tuned. i think it has been fired once since the work was done. Sorry for the poor lighting and glare. Just thought I would share

Bright stainless is gorgeous in person but such a pain to photograph! I applaud your efforts. The new shoes look nice

Gotta love an Officer's size .45. My daily carry is a well worn Springfield Armory Micro Compact, wearing Grashorn grips that are very similar to yours.

keep an eye on the barrel bushing as it is prone to cracking( I replaced it 3 times). it is very thin and one of the reasons I got rid of it along with the front sight flying off and would barely feed hardball. it wouldn't feed any hp's at all of any type

Thanks for the heads up. As I recall, this one has no problem feeding hardball. if memory serves, it has not been fired in over 30 years( and maybe a hundred rounds total), so sights and bushings will be my son's problem someday

In the late 1980's a very good friend called to tell me that the Walmart in our home town was closing out its hand gun line. A client of his worked there and could set back anything I might "need."

The close out price, with sales tax, was right at $180.00. It is and has been my daily carry since I brought it home. I added the stag grips in the late nineties.

It shoots great and feeds 230 grain ball and 185 grain Federal Hydra Shocks. It rides in my brief case now but, still has the original bushing and double recoil springs.

I have no idea why the photos are inverted.

When you download a photo, go to the photo, and right click on it and read the menu. I will ask you if you want to rotate left or right. Rotate until it is upright with left clicks

I just finished "Re shoeing" my polished Officers Mod. 1911, yesterday, with a unusual pair of Mother of pearl grips. the left grip needed quite a bit of hand fitting. The are unusual , as you can see. I don't believe that General Patton would approve of them, but they kind of, "flop my Mop".

This is the exact gun that got me 'bit' by the 1911 bug. I always enjoyed the history of it; but, this one captured my imagination the first time I shot it. I've owned 5 over the years...all good except one that kept losing the front sight until I realized the front sight was no longer needed...then Colt came out with the 'trench sight'. Great gun, enjoy.
