Default couple colts

Picked up a couple colts I was not looking for yesterday at local auction.

I got these grips a couple weeks ago off this forum. Needed to get something snazzy to put them on.

While there, picked up this early Colt Police Positive target. Guessing first year, 1909.

I am generally not a fan of engraving on guns but I must say, I really like the treatment on that snub! Very nice finds.

I recall your DS grips. I'm glad the lady found a good home. For awhile, she appeared to be wandering around sans visible means of support...

I AGREE WITH TS. THOSE GRIPS SET OFF THAT ENGRAVED DS PERFECTLY.

IMHO---RIDING IN A NICE FLORAL CARVED AND COLOR DYED, BELT AND HOLSTER RIG IT WOULD SIGNAL JUST ONE THING.....

ITS BARBECUE TIME ! ! !

It looks like the Detective Special had a hammer shroud at one point. Is there a hole in the top of the backstrap?

I'm not sure if Tess True Heart would approve but I like the Detective Special stocks. Are they a faux ivory or the real thing?

Real thing. Paul Persinger signed. It did have a hammer shroud but it was lost somewhere along the way. I had another DS with shroud and remember taking it off. I have sold the gun without it, as I remember I had to find some screws to fill the screw holes. Can't remember what i did with the shroud, but I can't find it.

Got the floral carved holster, and I'm wearing the belt.

WOW---THAT HOLSTER IS JUST PERFECT ! ! !

IMHO, THE HAMMER SHROUD WILL DETRACT FROM THE INHERENT BEAUTY OF THIS REVOLVER---DISPELLING ITS IMAGE AS A WORK OF ART, AND GIVING IT A UTILITARIAN LOOK......

I really like those.

You know, looking at that Police Positive, that grip shape doesn't miss being Bisley style by much, does it? Or am I just looking at it wrong?

Anyway...those look good. Congratulations on your purchases.

Charlie, that is a beautiful combination there. Worthy of actually being carried. Since you're already wearing the belt, might as well put on the whole package!!

What splendid grips, Persinge's work is about as fine as one can find. Nice grain, and well executed. Hope you can find your shroud, that would be a nice touch as well.

Thanks for sharing with us.

Best Regards, Les

Charlie, nice Colts, especially the target model. Is that barrel marked 22 W.R.F. ?

Yep WRF, I found that out the next day. I gave my buddy two boxes of the stuff last month, cause I didn't have a gun to shoot them. Have to check back with him.

I love the engraved snub. Most have too much engraving for my taste. This one is simple but really classy. To quote some of the younger crowd, "the grips are to die for"
