Default Taurus G2C brand new won't shot reloads

Well got me a new gun today and I shot some store brought ammo and tried two driffrent reloads of my dad's in it. Some of his reloads have a powder coating on the bullet rather then lube and seemed to be getting hung up I did shoot a few but got jammed twice so I went back to store brands. Just wondering if anyone else has found this to be a issue with this gun. I used to have the PT111 and from what I remember it shot all ammo w.o issues not sure why the barrel would be driffrent.
Other then that I am enjoying it got about 50 rounds in today.

New semi-auto pistols often require a few hundred rounds of standard pressure ammo be fired in order to get them to run properly. Your dad's reloaded ammo might be loaded to less than standard pressure.

Thank you for the reply. Well it shot it when it chambers it but just jamming I'm guessing the powder coating isn't the same thickness on all the bullets just a guess. I would have to look at the info on the loads but he normally loads to stock specs we just use them for target practice. Had a Sdv9 that also refused to shot any reloads.

some 9's can be picky on over all length... some bullet shape causes difficulty... finding what it likes to eat is some of the fun...good luck

It may not be the pistols fault " dad's " reloads don't run well . How about telling use the recipe what he finds for velocity in what handgun on his chronograph and his OAL with the bullet type used or mold number if home made bullets . Any reloader know's you might need to come up with a new recipe for a new handgun or at least modify the load . Maybe a slight change in OAL . You did not mention plunk testing dads ammo ?? Look it up if you don't know what that is .

Any handgun that give issues with any reload is so much more about the person making the reloads than the firearm . I've loaded practice plinker ammo for 45 years and have yet to find a handgun that did not run well with reloads and I have had a few handguns , about 21 that shoot reloads .

Now if you have problems with 124gr hst or gold dots or lawman ammo then its tread worthy !!

After a good cleaning , striker area too give your G2 a real good lube job except for the striker area and run 50 rounds of what you hope to use for carry ammo like a good brand name 124 +P load that were plunk tested then be sure it runs well with a good factory ammo first , like 200 or 300 rounds then go back and try "dads" reload stuff . Better yet learn how to roll your own ammo then you can besure its reliable and not need to guess .

Indeed. I would guess the problem is either bullet shape--unlikely, most modern pistols aren't picky--or overall length. Shortening it up would probably help. For instance, I have some 147-grain RNFPs in 9mm loaded just short-enough that they fit in the magazine of my Glock. They chamber okay in the Glock, feed fine, and also chamber fine in Wise_A Sr's Springfield RO. But they're a little too long to feed in the RO.

Too light a load might also be a problem, but it's hard to say without knowing the load or seeing them in action. I would investigate the OAL first.

Thanks for the reply guys, I just wondered if it was a known issue with this gun is all I was trying to find out. Dad's Springfield Armory 9mm and my old PT111G2 had no issues shooting any of his reloads. He's been reloslading ammo for 40 years used to sell at a gun range he was a manager of back in the 70s he has a few driffrent loads I know
My new G2C is fine with his 125grain LRN prem Alox loads
The other that didn't chamber well we're also 125 but I just noticed the shells are lugar maybe that's the driffrince
Sadley my father had a massive stroke 2.5 yrs ago and is wheelchair bond and not able to reload anymore or really help me with this stuff.i helped him reload when I was a young boy 9-11 yrs old but never was taught about powder chargers or how to know what goes with what I know there ton of YouTube videos sure I could learn.

Very sorry about your fathers stroke. I will pray for both of you.

A good reloading manual(more than one is better) is your friend. It is not hard to do but the main thing is that it requires your undivided attention. Always check the powder level in your cases and do not get your powders mixed up. Take your time.
I have the same gun and my grandson is taking it to the range for the first time next week. I am anxious to know how it does.

What happened to good ole common sense . Does the ammo pass a cartridge gaude test and then pass a plunk test . IT is does but does not seem to shoot the loads try a premium hp hst /dot . IF not luck let taurs sort it out BUT send a letter along mention issues with FACTORY AMMO ONLY !! Or leat a friend you respect give it a look over and try at the range all on there own .

You can learn just about everything you need to know to get started reloading with a Reloaders Bible by Don Geary Prentice Hall Press & Lymans 49TH Edition and you tube . Start on a single stage press . We all start at some point and I learned on my own well before the internet was around .

I'm honestly impressed that the thread has gone on this long without someone making an ignorant post like...

Ah, but then again, this is among the more mature forums on the internet, whereas posts like that I'm more used to seeing elsewhere.
