Default Magtech Shotguns

Anyone have any experience with these shotguns?

From what I gather, they are/were manufactured in Brazil. Seem to be available for a decent price.

Thoughts?

They are made by CBC of Brazil,,I don't know the full Brazilian name that the initials stand for, but I'm sure you can find it easily enough. It's the same co that mfg's CBC ammunition.
Old line company that was at one time was owned in part by Remington.

The pump shotgun is most likely the Model 586.
CBC/Brazil is the mfg'r.
MagTech is the importer if I understand the set up correctly.

There are actually 2 versions of the Model 586
--Model 586
--Model 586-2

The main differance is that the 586-2 has twin extractors on the bolt (left and right side extractors) and that greatly improved the extraction and ejection function over the earlier Model 586 which had a been a problem with the gun using some mfg'rs ammunition.

Some 586-2 will also have a small shell stop release lever on the left side of the frame. This when engaged will empty the tube magazine of the rounds 2 at a time for you ,,they simply strip right out the bottom loading port in one quick motion while holding the carrier down at the same time.
Saves pumping them through the action and ejecting each one.
Some people get the shakes at cycling rounds through the action to empty a gun.
I think you can also do this trick by simply pushing in on the shell stop manually but buttons and latches are tacticool these days.

One problem with the 586 & 586-2 is when loading the magazine tube.
If you push a loaded round into the tube but not far enough for the shell stop to catch it and retain it in the tube (it kicks back out of the tube into the loading port),,That round can push back into the action and jam the carrier mechanism.
It ends up underneath the carrier,,betw the carrier and the bolt,, with the carrier returned to the 'up' position.
No amt of slapping, pumping, prying will usually untie the offending round from the action.

You generally have to drop the trigger/carrier group out of the frame by punching out the cross pins (not unlike an 1100 or 870). Then the round is free to be plucked out.
The trigger group placed back in and pinned into place and you are back in biz.
Tough to do in the field, duck blind or during a home invasion fire fight.
