Huh? Which pro and which grip? Any and all? Speaking for myself, I grip each pistol differently. Each frame and grip is different, unless it's just different models of the same gun. I'm not aware that I'm holding the pistol the way any sort of "pro" advises.

But if you're seriously talking "pro" and "semi-auto", there was only one far as I'm concerned...the late Jeff Cooper.

I have only one semi auto handgun. I didn't even know I was supposed to grip it like a pro, but it shoots real well for me the way I hold it.

Why don't we back track to how do you hold a single action to get the best accuracy. Seat the top of the grip into the web of your hand where recoil will seat it if you do not start there. Align the barrel with the bones in your forearm. For that to work the trigger reach has to be short enough to place the pad of your trigger finger on the center of the trigger so I'm presuming the pistol fits your hand which often is not the case. Three fingers are placed below the trigger guard. Squeeze the front and back straps toward each other with minimal contact on sides of the grip. Opinions vary on how high to hold your thumb.

An accurate shooter can easily speed up the pace for timed matches. A fast shooter with only adequate short range accuracy usually justifies their limitations with the old song and dance about self defense encounters happening up close. It is rare to encounter a "pro," meaning an over paid instructor, that does not fall into the second group. Teach yourself to shoot accurately at 25 yards first, then try the conflicting advise from "pros" and see if any of it is useful for you.

Don't know about the rest of you, but any time I see a post that includes the phrase "And Go" I move on.

If I decode your question correctly.you're asking us if we do as many Utubers or other self proclaimed pro shooters do when they tell us to hold the shooting tool ''like this''.
All I can say is that after over 40 years of shooting handguns,I do it so as to feel confortable with it and nobody at the range came to me to tell me that I should do it like this or that.So much with such self proclaimed experts!

A local forum recently had a Meet & Greet at the amazing private range of a very generous member. It was a great opportunity to shoot, yack, watch some very accomplished shooters and play with other peoples' guns. I had a couple pistols (39-2 and CS9) that interested one fellow and was pleased to let him shoot them.

Watching the guy, I realized I'd never seen anyone grip pistols that way. I was dumbfounded that he made it work. At the end, he's such an accomplished shooter that I wonder whether I've been doing it all wrong.

Conclusion? Whatever works.

In my lifetime the "Pros" have changed their preferred grip and/or stance at least a dozen times... I decided I couldn't keep up; as it takes about 3000-5000 repetitions to change a habit.... so you just do it without having to think about it.

I still do OK with "my grip" and stance from the late 1980s...............

IMHO only "A"hits count .... speed is nice but secondary!!
