A great option for those in restricted states. Gives a full grip and sighting radius yet is thinner, flatter, less wide, skinnier, slimmer, and narrower profile for easy concealaminatiousiousness. I also like the MP3 covered slide and lack of operator docking device (rail) this might be the slickest looking Gastonspawn yet.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I too feel a single-stack G19 would be a great seller. I would certainly want one.

If they did that they wouldn't have sold over one million 43s. Now all those customers will buy the latest and greatest and they will sell a million 48s. It's a business and often baby steps sell product.

I have a Kahr CM9 that I carry once in a while. The trigger is just too long a pull. The Glock 43X might be interesting. Same frame as the 48X just an inch shorter slide.

Would the MagGuts +1 and +2 options to the shield be just as good?

I handled both the 43x and the 48 today at GT Distributors. My opinion of the 48 has increased since holding it. I don’t foresee me rushing out anytime soon to buy either one. I do like the slide finish after seeing it in person.

I think a lot of people are smh’ing but guys it’s not beer we’re talking about, this Glock ain’t for you.

What it’s for is those suppressed and downtrodden souls who live in some very unfortunate parts of our great nation. I applaud Glock for helping these people.

I am one of the unfortunate souls who live in Communist America. I don’t want a glock but S&W are taking their sweet time getting the new compact 10 round mags out. Not sure if they ever will so the glock 48 is where it is at.

As soon as the G-48 becomes available, I'm getting one! IMHO a G-19 size single stack is the cat's meow. Thinness is where it's at even with a little more butt and barrel......Hopefully S&W will figure it out soon? Truthfully, I'm surprised it has taken so long for these companies to figure this out?? "THIN IS IN".....and has been in for decades.

I personally think Glocks while great guns are over rated

I have had a Glock 43 since they arrived on the scene. I love it but I have a 48 on order.

But they are making a compact 3.6 or 4.0 size gun with 10+1 that Smith doesn’t have. Smith is behind the eight ball on this one.

I'm pretty excited about the 48, I love my 19 but it's just a bit wide so the 48 should be a good fit for me and a ten round capacity is fine with me.

And for a hundred bucks more than the Shield you actually get a set of those special Glock plastic sights.

Well, what if folks want to purchase a pistol that ACTUALLY works? Because, in the 8 or 9 Kahr pistols that I wasted time buying and running, not a single one of them worked. Worse than high point. I'd trust a new KelTec out of the box more than any Kahr pistol.

But, and this is a big but, those Glock pistols will actually work. Go dump 1000 rounds through them, and magically, you'll have 1000 rounds down range with no muss, no fuss.

Smith & Wesson has been and will continue to be behind the eight ball in a lot of ways!

I only bought one and have never had a Keltec or HiPoint to compare it to. But my experience was not positive.

I bought a PM9 a few months after they became available. It was the only really small and light 9mm single stack available at the time. The gun started out being 100% reliable right out of the box even though Kahr recommended a break in. A few hundred rounds later the magazines started falling out and Kahr sent me a metal magazine release to replace the plastic part they used on early guns which fixed that problem but I started to get both stovepipes and nose dives. I replaced the recoil spring which helped but did not fix the problem. So I replaced the Kahr with a Glock 43. I have more rounds through it than the Kahr and the only failures have been the slide sometimes riding over the last round in the magazine when I use extended base plates. I cannot blame Glock for failures from an aftermarket part.

I have to wonder how often people that say their PM9 and CM9 pistols are 100% reliable actually shoot them. For the first 500 rounds or so mine was 100% but it went downhill pretty rapidly after that. I have heard people state that small 9mms are guns that are meant to be carried a lot but seldom shot. Which makes no sense to me. The gun I carry is the one I want to be able to shoot well so the Glock 43 goes with me every trip to the range.

Glock isn't the only company that can make a small 9 that runs well. I have heard nothing but good things about the Shield.

I kind of wish’d they’d a made it a true single stack with probably an 8 bullet clip.

Could have made it even thinner. Also get rid of the front slide serrations dangerously close to the muzzle.

I've watched a bunch of videos,and read reviews, and I think I'll be buying a 48. I like the silver slide.

Guys as some of you may or may not know, Glock just announced the G48 9mm pistol and I just have a few thoughts about it I’d like to share.



You know it’s often been said the Glock 19 is the perfect size general purpose Glock for most people, but if I think if we’re being honest with ourselves, the 19 is just a little too thick and chunky for a lot of body types and situations. The Glock 48, to me, is a winner and is truly perhaps the best all around Glock for a wide range of folks out there.

You get a nice service size slide length and all the benefits of it and a comfortable grip, but in a much thinner and lighter package that is easier to conceal. Yes you give up some magazine capacity, but the truth is statistically speaking, the odds of 11 rounds of 9x19mm JHP loads not being enough to solve a personal defense situation is extremely low. It also just makes SO much sense in capacity restricted jurisdictions (as well as anywhere else too). Would make an ideal roadtrip gun where mag capacity laws can vary widely throughout the day’s travels, and would make a much better nightstand gun for hotel duty over the small micro 9s.

I really dig the NP3 slide, it looks great and that coating is a fantastic choice for corrosion resistance too and has natural lubrication properties. With this being a Glock, aftermarket support in terms of holsters and mag pouches will be massive. I haven’t been as excited about this gun as anything in a long time, never thought I’d buy another Glock but I believe they just made my new carry gun!

I like the concept of the G48 and am interested in checking one out. I agree with Jay that the G19, while a great pistol, is just a tad thick in the grip - at least for me. And, I don't have one, but have a couple G23's that I wish could be more slim.

I finally got a G43 a year ago. I really like the slim grip and it runs fine. The 6+1 capacity is not a negative because it's CCW rotation partner is a 642, so I'm +2 on the revolver. But, had Glock been thinking ahead it would have been great if the original G43 had the same grip width dimensions as the 43X and 48 (.04" wider). The slight additional thickness of these new guns would not have been detrimental to the 43 and there could have been magazine interchangeability (the larger 43X/48 into a 43). And, if they had designed the 43 mags like the new ones (that stack the rounds slightly staggered) they may have been able to stuff 7 rounds into a 43 magazine.

My cow! Just what I needed! Another bit of perfection from Glock! Here I have resisted the call of the dark side for the last several years and now ... what am I going to do! It's thin. It's got everything the 19 has except the extra rounds, etc. I gave my brother a G-19 b/c it was about the best 9mm I could find for him. Now I'm thinking about this new thin thing that Glock has brought out! 48! Guess I'll end up looking around. See what I can see. Don't know. Last time I went looking w/ a Glock, I ended up trading for a nice little 15-2. Good deal. Oh well ... maybe 48 ill be just what I need to float my boat! We'll see! Sincerely. bruce.

Me too. I rather buy a Glock 19 and pick up 10 round mags for when I go to ****** states, but the Glock 48 will only hold 10 rounds in non mag limited states. If I am only going to carry 10 rounds then give me the more compact gun.

Well I had an interesting experience at the Glock LE distributor for the Western US the other day. I go there frequently as I am the Rangemaster/Armorer for my department that has only issued Glocks for the past 10 years or so (previous to that we had issued Smith 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen semi's until they stopped producing them).

I have shot and maintained every single Glock model that has ever been produced with the exception of the G18. To me, Glock's are kind of ho-hum - they are an extremely efficient tool - nothing more.

They had the new g43X and g48 sitting on the counter. They were taking pre-orders as the deal was, as they explained it to me, that they could not actually deliver until after the "shot show" (glock's requirement). The new glock's were getting fondled by very sweaty men, who would then throw money (or credit cards) across the counter like they were stuffing bills into the attire of local strippers (a slight exaggeration).

When the counter guys that I was bs'ing with suggested that I take a look. I frankly said - no thanks. There was an exuberant insistence, so I succumbed. I was first handed the 43x, it was a 43 with a slightly longer grip and a very ugly two-tone finish, and a couple of other bells and whistles. I politely looked at it for a couple of seconds and handed it back with a mumbled "great". Disappointed, they handed me the g48. It was just as ugly as the 43X. But when I grabbed it it was like "WOW" THIS IS THE GREATEST FEELING GLOCK I HAVE EVER TOUCHED! To me what it felt like was a compact 1911 slim and functional. I dry fired it a couple of times and it felt even better!! Gone is the functional blockiness that I have experienced so many times before in other Glocks.

If it wasn't so ugly and I didn't have too many other firearms already I might have considered it..That is saying a lot for me!

It sure ain't much to look at but, it's a really excellent size and you know the thing will run since it's a Glock.... I don't see it fitting into my rotation as I am pretty content concealing the G19 sized M&P I have and when that's too big (rare occasion) I am happy with my Shield but, I'd love a 10 rd shield with a 4" slide just because why not.... If S&W doesn't come out with one by 2020 when I shake some gun $$ loose I might get a Glock 48...

Glock has undoubtedly hit another home run with the 48.

If I read correctly, it's the SAME grip. The main difference is the Slide/Barrel length.
So... What felt better with the G48 than the G43X?? My educated guess would be the Balance (due to the longer slide/barrel)?

Well certainly the longer slide/barrel length makes it feel better to me - balance and point ability, but the other factor is the length of the grip. The g43x and the g43 with the pinkie extension actually end up having the same length in the grip (they placed one over the other to prove it). The g48 has a longer grip (higher mag cap) making any pinkie extensions unnecessary (for me anyway). I have the bear paw hands so that was welcome.

The added bonus - as they explained - is that the 43x and 48 slides are interchangeable. Thus you can create your own combination

A Glock that looks like a Taurus...hard pass.

And I’m a Glock guy, hardcore, but don’t see anything that I have to have in the 48 (or 43X for that matter).

I'm sure the new Glocks will sell. I'd probably like one too. But I bought two Glocks last year, a Gen 4 G40 MOS and a Gen 5 G19 MOS. I already have a G43, well Wife does. But I would like to try them out in my hand and waistband and see how they feel and carry. So what's the blue label price?

From the distributor I always use, $358 with standard Glock Sights, $431 with Ameriglo Bold sights for the 43X and/or the 48 . . .

Interesting comments. May I suggest looking at the g19 and the G48 side by side. The specs show little difference in width. You give up 1/3rd of your magazine capacity to save 0.16 inches of width.

Which brings up the Sip P365 which is smaller in every dimension and also carries 10 rounds.

The 43X is more of a direct comparison to the 365 . . .

For me it is not the difference in the "slide" width but rather the difference in the "grip" width - a much better feel in the hands.

Looks like we just keep reinventing the wheel. The SIG P365 hit all the marks around a year ago. . .steel day/night sights, 10 plus 1 or 12 plus 1 capacity, sub compact size in a 9mm, and empty weight slightly over one pound. My Boraii pocket holster came in today. Loaded, this is the heaviest gun I would pocket carry. So, I don't need another pocket 9mm. Everybody can make a bazillion of them this year, and I won't buy the first one. Gave my son my Glock 19 to celebrate the arrival of a superior weapon. . .the SIG P365.

LOL!! The Bible says “beat your plowshares into swords”; not give your best sword away.

I have competed with Glocks in I.D.P.A. & I.P.S.C. matches for years, as well as carried them exclusively on duty and off duty. They are ugly, and have no soul, but I can’t imagine a better duty gun. Dang near indestructible and they run. Our regional academy has 39 jurisdictions and last time I checked 32 agencies carried Glocks, most of the rest Sigs. The firing lines are a breeze now as handgun failures and stoppages are almost non existent. The ones that do occur are generally user error.

About five years ago I heard that a single stack 19 was on the drawing board at an armorers recert school, and have been waiting ever since as I feel that is about the perfect combination of size, caliber and capacity for an off duty carry gun. I think Glock made a big improvement with the Gen 5 guns by taking off the finger grooves. I have been pestering Glock for a couple of years to come out with front slide serrations. When I heard about the 48, I was pretty excited… no finger grooves, thinner profile, front slide serrations and the marksman barrel. . I do not care for the silver slide, but for the most part no one is going to ever see my slide unless they are looking at the muzzle end of it.

I checked with my dealer and they have them in stock, but can’t sell them until January 22nd. I put one on hold and will be picking it up shortly there- after.
