Default New Mossberg 9mm Pistol

Apparently at the SHOT Show. I saw this article this morning. A pretty neat design, but I think it is priced a bit too high to interest me. Mossberg Enters the Concealed-Carry Market with the New MC1sc

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this was a silly move by Mossberg, especially after releasing something as unprecedented as the 590 Shockwave.

To say that the market for a single stack, polymer framed, striker fired 9mm pistol has already long since become flooded would be an understatement. I get that it's a lucrative market, but at this point the only way to break into it is to offer something completely new which isn't offered by the competition, and the MC1sc does not offer anything of the sort, it's just another face in the crowd.

If Mossberg wanted to break into the Semiautomatic Pistol market, then they should have made a pistol chambered in 10mm Auto since the cartridge has experienced a resurgence in popularity and the market for a Semiautomatic 10mm Pistol doesn't have a whole lot of options.
Seriously, there are like 3 options I can think of off the top of my head... The 1911 Platform, (most notably the Colt Delta Elite) the Glock family of pistols, and the Tanfoglio Witness. So if Mossberg had made the MC1se chambered in 10mm Auto, then they would have a very high probability of being successful, but instead they went with 9mm Luger and practically doomed the pistol to obscurity in the process.

I wonder if this is something Mossberg is making itself or maybe it's made in someplace like Turkey? Or at least outsourcing most components. In any event, I'd think $425 is about $150 high to arouse any significant customer interest. There's far too much competition from similar 9mm pistols, especially for an untested newby to the handgun market to warrant that price. Regarding a 10mm, I have thought about having one several times but I always ask myself "what possible use do I have for one?" The answer is always "None."

Man you guys are being really negative. Everything I have read and heard says it's USA made (Eagle Pass, TX). Now I have never been into shotguns. I've been into firearms a long time but shotguns never been my cup of tea. Watching all the video reviews I've seen so far on the MC1 gets me wanting to try a Mossberg for the first time. I'm sure I'm not alone. And none of the reviewers have experienced jams or malfunctions, which is a really good sign.

I searched prices online. Saw it at $343.99 (grabagun) and $324.89 (Kentucky Gun). I think eventually you'll see them in shops in the $300-330 range. That is a plus in my book.

Also interesting is that these will take Glock mags. I guess sort of like the Ruger PC9 rifle. I already own too many 9mm pistols, but wouldn't mind adding another.

Mossberg is one of those gun companies like Savage that have been turning out quality guns for many years but never get the recognition of some of the other big names.
Thanks for posting this. I am going to check one out in the near future.

<walks into local gun store>

1980: "Whatcha' hunting?"

1995: "Sorry no more hi-caps for sale."

2005: "What kind of AR are you looking to buy?"

2019: "You looking for a carry gun?"

Is Mossberg way late to the party? Yes. Is it the only party with a good crowd? Yep. Every gun counter person will tell you that what's selling are inexpensive hunting rifles, carry guns in 9mm and .380, and .22s. Mossberg already makes the other two categories.

I’m sure going to check one out when they’re released. I really like the idea of a cross-bolt safety and you can never have too many 9-mils...

It reminds me of all the rest of them without cylinders.

Uses GLOCK 43 magazines, so if you already have one of those, that is a plus.

First thing come to mind was it looked like a Glock 26. It just looks like another ho hum 9mm pistol. I don't see it having big sales records unless they might get the going retail price down to around $200 to $275. Just to much completion and to many guns out there for this newcomer in my opinion. Time will tell I guess.

LOL If it is true to Mossberg it probably kicks like a mule. I have a Mossy 500 and it has been a dependable shotgun.

Default It's a long party

I don't believe you can be late to the Firearms selling party, it's been a long party and hopefully it won't end soon.
I may not like every new firearm but can't knock having multiple choices.
What if we only had one to choose from.

Sig has a few P220 models chambered in 10mm ($$$$), Springfield just released an XD model in 10mm, and Ruger has a Blackhawk Convertible in 10mm/.40SW. Still not a great selection, but getting better.

They should have remade the Brownie, but chambered in .500 S&W Magnum!
