Default bought a $179.99 Spectrum

While killing some time in a Scheels store I spotted the Taurus Spectrum was marked $100 down. Never heard of that model and didn't even Google any reviews...just bought it.

I did Google reviews after the purchase and found some negative's.

First complaint by others was a scratchy, long and heavy trigger pull. Nothing can be done about the long pull and long reset but after cleaning the striker/trigger bar assemblies and applying GunslicK anhydrous graphite and dozens of dry fires my trigger pull was smooth and averaged 5 lb 1.2 oz.

Other complaints were feeding issues especially racking in the first round, light primer strikes and being inaccurate. I've only shot 50 rounds (set up a cardboard box with stick-on bullseyes on a snowbank) through mine so far and had none of those problems. Once the snow melts and I can get to my range I'll spend a little more time with this gun.

comes with 2 magazines...7 round extended and 6 round standard length

comparison in size to my EDC Ruger LCP

The only thing that bugs me about the Spectrum is the slide to frame fit at the back of the slide. I know that's nit-picky, but Taurus hyped the Spectrum's smooth lines and ergonomics before the release and how they wanted to wait until they got everything just right. Every one I've looked at in the stores had the miss-fit, some worse than others, but oddly enough the ones in all the Taurus ad pictures & videos appear to be a perfect fit.

I was actually planning on getting one of these until I read about them having an issue with light primer strikes.

If Taurus ever gets the issue straightened out then I'd gladly purchase one as I'm very fond of the aesthetics and features of the Spectrum, but last I heard it was still a common issue.

Default Spectrum

I doubted buying one, but it’s been flawless and very accurate . I hate the extended mag and use the standard. Excellent little gun. Paid more than that for mine but I’ll never regret it. The Mossberg will be a good seller. Mossberg is known for inexpensive working guns

Very nice photos - please keep us updated on this thread regarding how it does as it climbs in round count with different ammo.
