Default New Shoes For My DW Valor

And I love them. Made em myself too. I always thought red grips would look great contrasting with the black dutycoat, again, I think I was right. The grips are made from Cocobolo root. I've not quite gotten them to the color/shade I want yet. It darkens with UV exposure and I've been sitting them in a window still and letting them go dark. They'll go darker than they are if we ever get some sun around here.. theres no finish yet and likely wont be. I make all the cuts with my Japanese saws that leave a surface like glass so no extra work there. I sanded these only with 80 grit and that's as far as I intend to go, it leave a nice Matt surface that's pretty sticky in the hand and matches well with the Matt finish on the pistol.
I wish the camera could relay the deep red that they already are, but it really doesnt.
I also recontoured the slip on magwell from Wilson and blended it in with the opening of the frame and gave it a bigger mouth and reblued it.
Enjoy.

Well, theres some pics of the right panel. I can not get the other pics to upload. Its actually the better looking panel too. Oh well, you get the "picture".

Thanks for the kind words folks. 1911 grips are so easy to make I don't know why more people dont make their own.
I may checker these at some point. For now though I'm going to make another set for my other DW, it seems I like to change them every few months.

Loves me some Cocobolo wood. My Dan Wessons came with them but this SIG got a nice set of double diamonds. Excellent gear for meal protection.

I thought hunters took the picture of the gun and the animal before butchering da meat!
What do I know.... we hunt with fishing rods in South Florida.

Might make my next target stocks for our 1911s flag red..... like the avatar.
Beats mowing the lawn.

The only hunting I do is for a parking spot at Stater Bros. The meat is cheaper and I don't have to get up early.
