Default Sig P365

I do love my M&Ps, especially the Shield 9mm.

However, Sig announced yesterday, that they are now shipping the P365 with Ambidextrous Thumb Safety.

I can hardly wait!

15 round magazines, eh?

Don't know that I will buy one, but who knows. I have been very happy with the 10 and 12 rounders. I typically carry my P365 with 10+1, and an additional 12 round as a spare, sometimes two. The 12 rounder carries well in the watch/cellphone pocket of my Wranglers, as well as in a small unobtrusive belt pouch.

I like the Shield's more diminutive manual safety better.

Got my new P365, and it's a good one! Dead nuts on, right out of the box. No adjustments whatsoever, other than degreasing it. They must dunk it in a barrel of heavy oil before shipping. Took a long time to clean.

Shot about 60 rounds right away to check function, and it was flawless! The ambi safety is easy to flick off with my thumb, not so easy to reset it. You ain't gonna do that by mistake. I found the easiest way is to grab both sides with thumb and forefinger, and lift up to set it on safe. Really easy to flick off. I hope to shoot it some more next week, as I am already carrying it.

Now, for the good stuff - this thing is really small, but shoots like a bigger gun, without much muzzle flip at all. Its about 1/2 inch taller, 1/2 inch longer, 1/4 inch thicker than my tiny TCP .380. It will go almost anywhere the .380 will fit. That's a really good thing, considering it has more bigger bullets. Smaller than my shield, and lots smaller than any of my compact 9mm double stacks. It really does shoot as well as my full sized, at short ranges. Haven't shot it long yet. And, its a darned 9mm!

It came with a ten round flat mag, a ten round pinky extended mag, and I added a twelve and a fifteen for good measure. Honestly, the 15 doesn't make it that much bigger, but does give better grip. Sixteen rounds in this thing, being so small, is amazing. The ten, flat, keeps it pretty tiny, and I still get eleven rounds to shoot. It never needed regripping, or felt loose.

Its a very good shooter, especially considering its diminutive size, right on par with most guns. This thing is a really big little gun, or is it a little big gun? Really nice is a pretty good descriptor. I did have a few flyers, because I wasn't hanging on tight enough. It really is that comfortable in your hand.

I don't yet know about comfort IWB, as I am waiting for its holster. Currently using the one for my shield, and its OK, but bigger than needed. Its got pretty good retention, but I can tell it isn't right. It will fit in a smaller single stack holster, but its pretty tight, and hard to get out of. I'm sure fox trot concealment will fit it perfectly! I also ordered his mag carrier, and Ryan said it will work perfectly with all four mags, regardless of size.

I didn't weigh it, but, its light. I've got a good feeling about this one, and think it will be a joy for concealed carry. They cut some angles on the corners, so maybe the edges won't get me.

So I dumped another 100 rounds thru it , and cycled the safety between every shot, for familiarity and break in. The safety now sets easier, still flicks off easily, but you still won't set it by accident. The trigger is losing its gritty feeling, getting better.

Its a chore to clean the firing pin channel, little bits and little springs, so do it carefully over a white towel. And you have to get that plastic piece in just right, or you won't get that back plate back on.

For such a small gun, I really like how this thing shoots. Still not a hickup, in over three boxes of mixed ammo, even some steel case. One really nice thing about this gun is it's small size. It fits almost anywhere my little Taurus PT738TCP will fit. It's that small, with bigger and more bullets. NICE!

The recoil spring will test your racking skills, but it sure does control the recoil.

I wish the front of the trigger guard was a tad more vertical, but it is what it is.

The large mags really don't make this thing much bigger, a bit better grip surface. Getting all of the bullets in all of the mags will make a man out of you, without a loader. Thank you Uplula! I'm gonna keep mine full up, all of the time.

You can actually see the night sights in complete darkness, even if you can't see your target. Lol

My holster and mag carrier is supposed to be in the mail today , we'll see!

Well, I've been wearing it for a few days now, in it's own holster, and I like it for a carry gun. I do appreciate the smallness, and lightness of it, but I can feel it. Not bad, I just know it;s there. My Taurus G2 double stack is still the most comfortable gun I own, to carry ---- but the others aint bad.

This thing has not failed in any way. Not one heavy breath!

It's a keeper, and I will carry it a lot, supplemented by my double stacks, and Shield. I do love my M&Ps, and Rugers.

Lots of options is a good thing, and it's nice to have more inexpensive single and double stacks for when I wouldn;t want to lose one of the others.

My carry pieces (all compacts or micros): S&W M&P 9c, S&W M&P 9 2.0 3.6", S&W M&P Shield 9, Ruger SP101 spurless .357, Ruger RAP Compact 9, Taurus Millenium PT 111 G2, Taurus PT709, Taurus, PT738TCP .380, and now my Sig P365 9mm. All keepers, plus my full size pieces. How many can I carry at one time? We'll see!

You should really consider trying on one of these things. Don't give up on your Smiths, because I like them a lot too, and high capacity is always nice.

It's nice to have choices.
