Default 1100 Question

So remember when they came out with all the 11-87 Super Magnums? Then they came out with a part to ensure the cycling with 2¾" shells? Okay, good.

Here is the real question: Has anybody tried the new piston setup with the 11-87 2¾" sealing ring on an old 3" 1100? I'm wondering if it would be possible to shoot 2¾" loads that way.

I don't know the answer to your question but the 1187 is a great gun for not much money, you can currently get one at Walmart for $476. If I had a nice 1100 I might be inclined to leave it that way and get a new 1187 for bad weather days. I actually just bought a used 1187 with walnut stocks in 12 gauge and the gun was in brand new condition for under 400 bucks.

I bought a 11-87 years ago from Jumbo Sports when they were going out of business, back in the 90's I think. GREAT gun. doesn't shoot the 3.5's though. My son has it and I have tried to get it back from him but he won't budge. If I didn't already have a SBE II I'd be seriously looking at the new Remington V3.

Okay to set the record straight, I only want to know if this is possible.

I'm drowning in 3" & 3.5" shotguns. This one is a 30" Full choke that I'd like to play with so I am wondering if anybody has tried this before I break down and try it myself...I'm not going to alter it permanently in any way.

Update:
Called Remington and asked them the question. Decided to order a 30" trap barrel and call it a day. Remchokes and clays time!
