I an going to put my RUGER vaquero up for sale at the local gun show and don't know the value. It is a old model ,7 1/2 bbl 44 magnum ,98% with original box and shipping sleeve and papers that came with it. It has been converted at the factory for safety reasons . any guess as to value would help
then i can buy another S&W

All of the Vaqueros have the transfer bar (new) action, so I’m not sure what you mean by converted at the factory.
I had a large frame .44 Mag 7 1/2” Vaquero. I traded it off, but it was a great gun and fairly uncommon.
I’d start at $600 and see what kind of interest is generated.

Negitives: That is the least popular chambering for Vaqueros ! (45 Colt is most popular.) The cowboy reenactors prefer 5.5" length.
Positives: It is a blast to shoot!
I'm down to 2 pair now (7.5" Biesly and 4" standard stainless, all 4 in 45) and don't have a clue what it is worth. 2 years ago I sold a pair of 4" 44-40 stainless standard Vaqueros for $450 each, but that is an unusual model and takes an unusual buyer!

In that caliber and barrel length, I'd think it's about a $400 gun.

A 7 1/2" barrel, .44magnum Ruger Vaquero has really got to be a blast to shoot, as stated! In that condition, if you lived near PGH, PA, I would bring you $500. (Okay, I'd offer less, of course, but I'd have the 5 in my pocket.)

when the old model vaquero was 1st made they did not have the transfer barsystem ,it was built with large super blackhawk cylinder and larger frame to stand heavy 44 mag loads. From my understanding they don't make the new vaquero in 44 mag.

The original Vaqueros on the large frame like yours were introduced in 1993, 20 years after Ruger switched over to the transfer bar system. The New Vaquero came along on the smaller frame later.
Some folks call the large frame Vaqueros the “old model” which confuses the issue with real Old Model Rugers with the earlier action.
No Vaqueros (either large-frame or New Vaquero frame) had the old 4 click action.
To further confuse things the blackpowder Old Army kept the older action forever.

I have one in high polish stainless , 4 1/2 inch and it has a transfer bar. 44 mag and very accurate it is a great carry gun on the deer lease when hogs are in the area. Had it at least 20 years or more iirc.

Early last year I bought a large frame Vaquero at a LGS for $550 plus tax. It's the 4 and 5/8", .45 Colt. Primo condition. No box, no papers. I didn't want to go above $500, but it was exactly what I had been looking for, for a couple years, in primo condition, so I was tickled to finally get it.

I bought a pair of 'matched' 7.5 inch .45 Colt Old Model high polish stainless Vaqueros at my LGS on consignment, $760 for both of them. Really nice pistols. They were made about a year apart as far as I can figure by checking the serial numbers.
To the OP, I'd price at about $550 but me I wouldn't sell it LOL.

Sigp220.45 is correct. The Vaqueros have always used the transfer bar system. And the .44 Magnum Vaqueros are all on the larger frame. There have been some New Vaqueros produced in .44 Magnum on the large frame, like the one shown below.

I have the "old" style Vequero in 45 LC, 4.625 in bright, brand new with box, outer sleeve and papers and I paid $500 for mine a few years back fwiw. I wouldn't sell it for $500 either.

Yeah, there are no "Old Vaquero" models ever made; only Vaquero and New Vaquero.
And yes, ALL have the "new model" transfer bar.
