Default Any Dan Wesson collectors here ?

Do any of you guys/girls know anything about this Dan Wesson? The medal says PPC and it’s a 38. I’ve searched everywhere and can’t find any info on it. I also called Dan Wesson with no help. It’s a very interesting little revolver, they used two different medals to make it. It may be the only one made, maybe even a concept ? Serial number is 001. Any help would be greatly appreciated IMG_8261.JPG

If the serial number really is "001" then I suggest: do NOT fire it. It could be very valuable.

There is a Dan Wesson Forum. You might have better luck finding info there.

Serial no. 001? Yeah Don't fire it for sure until you find out the value. Only Dan Wesson I ever tried years back had a shroud that fit over the barrel. Think they changed em later on but one I tried was in .357. Let us know what you find out.

I would send a PM to Handejector (Lee Jarrett, the owner of this forum) and/or Doc44 (Dr. Bill Cross). I don’t think there are any two individuals in America that know more about firearms. I am not sure either is a Dan Wesson expert, but I bet they can point you in the right direction.

Be glad to take that off your hands since it's such an oddball s/n and all.

The Dan Wesson site has a lot of knowledgeable people eager to help with info. I'm sure they'd like to see it. I bought a DW 1981 5-2 357 recently and done a lot of research. That's the first spurless one I've seen and the finish isn't the typical deep nearly black high polished finish. The side plate has an integral cylinder stop different than most. It has a barrel nut so not a fixed barrel model. There's two metals used on the DW revolvers, one's cast, and the reason one looks purple and the other blue. Ask the experts at DW forum. Good luck and great find!

I'm a Dan Wesson fan but can't tell you anymore than the others have. The Dan Wesson forum is going to be your best bet for any information.

I own a few of them DW:first thing I'd check is if the serial number seems to have been erased and or stamped over. You might have to revert to X rays to make sure.
You can also check if any gunsmitthing firm(like Lipsey's) has tried to start a new line of guns by modifying DW guns.If so,there might be a few other guns in circulation in which case your gun would have some notoriety=increase of value(depending on which firm has done the job).
Be patient in your search and remember, half the fun is getting there!

That's an old gun, the "barney" frame makes that a certainty. My .44 Mag DW is one of the first ones made and it's pretty purple too:

I think the fixed sight is a model 14 vs the adjustable sight M15. It does have the barrel nut so it can be changed. Judging from the serial number and condition, I'm sure a collector would pay a high dollar for it.
