Default SIG Factory Reworked Pistols

How long have they been putting the Red Box pistols out? I just happened to see them on CDNN and got one of the 15 round Compact 9mm.
I have examined it in every way possible and it looks like new. The box in one corner has a small white label that says used in excellent condition.

They’ve been around a long time. Excellent quality. Can’t go wrong with one.

We have a P290RS that came that way. No problems.

Agreed. I am about a year into ownership of a "Red Box" (certified pre-owned, factory refurbished) P229, standard DA-SA-decocker .40S&W. Just like brand new in every way, except my price was not the $1087 MSRP, but $400 delivered to my local FFL in the red box with manual, lock, two magazines and a one-year factory warranty.

This is my third Sig pistol, following a P230 .380 and a German Police trade-in P6 9mm. All have been excellent. The Red Box pistols are an exceptional value.

I bought one of their factory re-worked guns 10 or 12 years back. It also appeared to be brand new and it worked great.

I'm thinking it was some special edition or factory-extra-fancy P220.

Sig Releases Previously Fielded Military Surplus M17 MHS Pistols

I recently came across this article, and have been considering picking one up. I handled a brand new "civilian" version (read all black M17) at the shop a few days ago. Think it would be fun to have a "real army gun"! Still waiting to find the price of a surplus or maybe find one locally.

Puchased one of their Red Box 320s in a 45 Compact about three weeks ago and it is a good shooter. The ergonomics work for me. Mine also came with night sights, bright and an extra grip frame. The Compact is 3.9" and it came with a FDE grip frame all for $379.00 delivered to my FFL. Bought mine from CDNN.

Thanks. You answered my unasked question! And I think I trust that "certified pre-owned" way more than an auto dealer!

I found a shop online that listed them as out of stock and $799.

JohnRippert-

For those looking for one of these FDE military trade in's- PSA has them in excellent condition with 1 17 round mag, and 2 21 round mag for $699+shipping as part of their Christmas sale. Most other spots I saw them for sale had them shipping with 2 17 round mags and no 21 rounder as a FYI. Just thought I would let you know these were available. I would hurry though as I would expect they may sell out at this price. I cannot have one as I live behind the curtain in Colorado and such magazines are deemed to be too much of a public danger..... Cool looking piece though.

On the red labels, I have seen a few and they all looked brand new and performed great, but they were all in .40 S&W. I want a 229 in 9mm and I will buy it. There is a 229 red box in .40 available locally for $415 and I get tempted by it, but I want a 9mm version. CDNN has them in 9mm, but they are $120 more....

I have a Red Box .40. I haven't tried this yet, but when I checked it out before buying, with the .40, you can purchase a Bar-Sto 40 to 9 conversion barrel for $250 and a Sig .357 barrel from Sig and shoot all three calibers in same pistol with no other changes. Same mags. Same springs. You can't do that with the 9mm p229. If all you'll ever shoot is 9, the buying a 9 makes sense. If you want to shoot more than 9, starting with the 40 will cost less.

I just picked up a red box 40/357 sig both barrels 2 tone SS slide for $575.
My wife got the 1st red box sig P238 about 6 years ago. They are really good deals. It's like buying a certified used car at about 1/2 to 1/2 off.
