Default Rock River Varmint

This was my RRA VARMINT rifle. 24” 1/8” barrel. Very accurate. Out shot many bolt guns and my White Oak Armament varmint. Didn’t miss a beat for 10years. Sold last year for a service ride upper

Thank's WCCPHD for spending my money, thanks to you I set out to find me a 300BO pistol to suppress over the weekend (particularly the Sig Rattler)
Well, I came across a Wilson Combat and a Daniel Defense all in 300 BO pistols. Wilson's are unbreakable, but they do out source a tiny bit of the parts from what I understand.
I snatched up the Daniel because I knew that not only are they completely built in house like the Wilson's, but 100% of all the components going inside are completely made in house at Daniel too. I won't say the Wilson wasn't calling my name though.
Down the AR rabbit hole again. lol

One more try.

In 1979 a buddy called me. He had been laid off at work and suddenly had no money for guns. A few days earlier he had put a new AR15 (Colt of course, no others back then) on layaway and now couldn't afford to pay it off or lose his deposit. Would I be interested in buying him out? Well, not really. Wasn't looking for an AR but what can you do? So we went to the shop and I paid off the rifle and took possession.

It's an early SP1 model with no forward assist. Even though I wasn't looking for one once I had it I found it fun to shoot. It was stolen in 1985 but local police recovered it from a known drug dealer a few weeks later.

The rifle remains in its original condition. I have no idea how many rounds have been fired through it but it has never failed to feed, fire or eject.

Hey, OIF2, I like the group, how far was that?
I have never even sighted in my AR15, if it hits the 55 gallon barrel, at 50 yards, I am a success,,

Maybe I will have to put up a paper target, and see what the gun is doing,,

I figure I can not be accurate as long as the gun has the mil-spec trigger in it,,
so, it will always be a "plinker", until I get a Rise (or something like that) trigger,,,

Art Doc's post will likely result in me having a nightmare tonight. My introduction to the AR15/M16 was while attending a small arms Fam course at Camp Pendelton in 1967. We were provided with early M16's without the shell deflector. Not a good thing for a left handed shooter. I wouldn't even touch, let alone shoot, an AR for about 5 decades until I found a left side eject model. Anderson lower and Bear Creek side charger upper. The slick right side causes a lot of double takes at the range.

Thank you. This AR-180 and the SP-1 are my favorite shooters for sure. But I like the nostalgia ..... newer ones are fine just not as much "character".

In the early 2000s the CMP had a program that would make AR-15 type match rifles available for sale to clubs and state associations to foster Service Rifle competition. In January 2005 the program ended and the remaining rifles were made available to the members of CMP affiliated clubs. There were 150 rifles made by Bushmaster available for $875.00 ea. and 4 rifles available that had been made by Compass Lake for $1,210.00 ea. The CMP guns had a 1 in 8” twist and the Compass Lake guns came with a 1 in 7.7” Krieger stainless barrel or a 1 in 8” twist Douglas Premium air-gauged chrome-moly or stainless barrel All barrels were free-floated and triggers adjusted to 4.5 lbs.
This is one of the Bushmaster XM15-E2S rifles. I bought this for a back-up rifle and shot it in a few matches – it performed well. It doesn’t get to the range much anymore – at 12 pounds it’s just too heavy for anything but matches.

Had an AR 180 back in the 1980's.
Fun gun but crude construction and fragile buttstock design.
Btw, if you compare the action to the British light infantry weapon bullpup they are nearly identacle.

.223 Wylde 7.5" AR Pistol built on a Stag receiver; mbus, EOTECH, and a single stage Timney trigger are some of the upgrade features of this toy.

Light weight build. 6lb 8oz loaded.
Good to go to 300 meters with M193
ball. I haven't gone further out. Runs
as Eugene envisioned & is 1.5MOA.

My Colt 653 is 6lb 13oz loaded. The
2 position stock's alumimum. I think
that's where the extra weight is. NFA
is ok but not always what you're
looking for.
