I haven't had any reliability issues with the P80 frames, I'm using 100% Glock internals. They feel better to me, look better to me, and in the case of the black frame/silver slide it offers a 19 sized frame with a 17 sized slide. Takes hardly any effort to complete them as well.

When I opened up this thread, I thought it was going to be about AR style rifles. Hmmm.... I do have a Glock 42. It’s a great pocket carry on a summer day wearing shorts. It functions like a shrunken Glock 19. Now you’ve got me thinking about my other “black guns”. Like my Sig P229 and Xcarry. Or my M&P 9 or Shield. Or my 325 NG. Or my Kahr 9mm. Now that I think about it, my favorite AR isn’t even black, it’s FDE.....

Nothing wrong with black striker fired guns, they work and work well. I carry a P365 every day, even though I have a host of other guns to choose from.
Closing in on 3,000 rds downstream, reloads, factory, 115/124/147, no ripples.

I have a Glock 20. Great gun and I won't be selling it. It fires every single time you pull the trigger. I don't need any more Glocks or any other plastic striker fired pistol. They are all the same. Glocks are great guns but they are just so boring.

I once owned a Glock 30 (45acp). It was (is) well designed, well engineered and well made. It was also very accurate and one of the softest shooting guns I've ever fired in 45acp. It was bought as an experiment to check out what the big hoopla was all about with plastic guns. I learned to really appreciate it for what it was, but I also learned that I just don't like plastic guns. Shoot what you like and like what you shoot.

I own 4 Glocks. I tend to buy 2 of most guns that I really like so, 2 G30's 2 G27s. My G27 is my go to...working on some transition to the G30 as my primary but for CCW hard to beat the 27. The G27s are Gen3, My 30's are Gen4. Only mods I ever do is the frame plug, night sights & Talon or other grip texture tape. Maybe a Pierce grip extension on some of my mags.

As to being Ugly., I never thought they were. I mean they are not Highpoint 9mm Ugly.

Reliability over the years has been excellent. Only issue in my experience, using older gen magazines since they seem to modify the mag follower geometry in various generations.

Also using the X-grip sleeve if one is using a higher capacity mag in a subcompact, one must be careful since an aggressive grip at the lower angle of the mag can cause the longer magazine to kant forward in the grip frame & thus at the feed ramp slightly which may or may not cause a feed issue depending on fit of the magazine & how much wiggle room there is.

Finally, on .40 Cal. it's hard to beat a pistol that one can carry 10 total rounds concealed all day with ease [G27] then at night insert either a Glock .40 cal. 13 round or a 21 round magazine for home defense.

Several years ago I was a blue steel and wood purist. One Christmas I gave my son a 1894 Winchester short rifle, he left the room and returned with an AK for me. Every since strange things keep showing up in my safes. My son is a serious Glock lover and has about every model. He is a true believer. He talked me into this G-17 and I'm starting to like it. I keep it in the hallway closet with a couple of 30 round mags. I'm not allowing it in the safe with my S&Ws, who knows what kind of pups that may produce.

The descent into madness continues.....Ladder13 called it, I have fallen....I am now the owner of (gasp) and AR pattern rifle.

Sorry, I couldn't help it. I got an email from Armalite just before the Covid stuff began regarding a big sale......If I repent, will I regain the favor of the S&W gods?

no pictures yet, they got squirreled away just before the 'peaceful protests' began. I did load up on mags and ammo, just to make certain that they would be ready if called upon.

And the sickness spreads.....one of my buddies took advantage of the Glock Blue label program and got 2 Glock 19's for his civil defense and protection plan. No pic of those....they look like any other Glock 19 gen5. He did sequential serial numbers somehow......

Its not madness. Like Ladder 13 my EDC is a Sig P365. As far as rifles, I have an M1A Socom, couple of AK's, AR's in 556 and 6.8. A 6.8 SBR, a PS90 SBR and a MP5K clone. And several others I can't think of now.

This one is my "truck gun."

My "black guns" are all long guns....... ARs and a couple of Beretta CX-4s in 9mm

I have owned 3 Glocks; an early 19 and later tried two 26s..... as a civilian concealed carrier, and growing up shooting revolvers I prefer SA/DA Smiths, Berettas and Sigs........ 9mms and .45s.

1990s Performance Center Smith autos and 3913/14s ...... along with as German Sigs , Beretta Elite IIs and Wilson Combat Centurions are hard to beat!

Glock grip angle, plastic sights and trigger never appealed or cought on with me.

That said ..... a good tool.... and if I was issued one (19) to carry as a back up to my long gun...... OK.

I also prefer leather to kydex!!!!!!!!!
