Need some schoolin'
Been having a craving . Down here the deer are tiny . I don't even mess with them . I do however have a bunch of feral hogs . Been using both a 41 & a 357 Blackhawk revolvers . Was casting up some LBT 180 WFNGC for the 357 & looked in a couple of manuals after I found out I could push the same bullet 4-500fps faster from a 18" barrel vs 6.5" . That got my attention . Originally I looked at leverguns . I wanted something I could use same bullet in & mount optics should I desire . Found that a Win 94 won't feed , Marlin 1894 might or might not without modifying carrier . Win 92 can't really mount optics , Rossi won't feed it , Henry probably my best bet . Then we get to 44 mag pretty much same deal as above + Marlin slow twist , microgroove rifling . Means new moulds / sizer to be large enough for an MG barrel . Win 92 with it's curved buttplate would kick like an angry mule . Win 94 my or my not feed . Again Henry looks viable .
Friend brought up single shot rifles . 357 not much choice if one doesn't want cheap or a gunsmithing project . H&R/NEF , CVA & Traditions I'll pass on . Ruger only made a handful of # 1's in 357 a CHP commemorative , # 3 I don't know . Have heard too many stories about the Italian repro's . 1885 clones again I don't know if Browning or Miroku chambered 357 . More choices in 44 mag in all the above SS rifles . Again Henry is probably most practical . Did happen to find a genuine Win 1885 low wall that had been rebarreled in 357 long ago but I'm leery of it . Any of you have experience with the Ruger or 1885 ?

We don't have a hog issue here in KY, however, I will say that my Henry BBS in .41 magnum shoots top end magnum loads with ease. I recently got a Henry carbine in 45 Colt, it looks very promising when you look at reload data for the 45 colt top end loads. Henry makes a great rifle.

I've also got a BBS 41mag which I like very much . If I go with more levers they'll most probably be Henrys . Conventional rifling , correct barrel twist , nice wood . Added plus they like cast .

I hate to point to other companies , but take a look at the Ruger .44mag carbine . They are out of production , but you can still find them . Plus it's a semi , so if you hit them just enough to pi** them off , just keep pulling the trigger .
