I came across a lightly used CZ SP-01 Tactical at a gun show last weekend, and took it home for $450.
I'm not a fan of pistols with rails, and the SP-01 Tactical loses the nice lines of the CZ 75 and adds a bit of unnecessary weight. I'm also not a big fan of the 18 round magazines with the overly large base plate, but regular 16 round CZ 75 magazines work just fine and make a lot more sense for concealed carry.
That steel frame, extra metal and high capacity magazine push it up to 48 oz loaded, however, it's comfortable to carry IWB in a decent holster with a proper belt.
It turns out that it also shoots very well.
I grabbed some handloaded 115 gr HAPs and 115 gr XTPs, both using 6.6 grains of Power Pistol. I found that it shot to point of aim at 25 yards and on a rest gave a very credible 2" 10 shot group (excluding the two fliers which are probably my fault):
Velocity wise the 115 gr HAPs averaged 1209 fps and the 115 gr XTPs averaged an essentially identical 1204 fps. At that velocity, the 115 gr XTP offers excellent, reliable expansion and optimum penetration.
