Gun Show Find
Checked out the gun show at McClellan Park last weekend and on Saturday I spotted a real nice High Standard Supermatic Citation Mod 107 Military in the original box with original paperwork and two extra magazines. I was in a bit of a hurry because I had to take my grand daughter (16) to her part-time weekend job. I planned to return in the afternoon and check it out but was unable to. I showed up early Sunday and the table that held the pistol was empty, the vendor had left. As I turned to leave the gentleman at the door asked me why I was leaving so soon and I explained that the vendor that had the pistol I interested in had left. The gentleman explained to me how that vendor was moving his shop out of the state and had held a sale just before closing the previous evening and sold everything. When I told him what pistol I was interested in, he directed me to another vendor who had purchased about half of what was available and the pistol I was looking for was one of the items. Lucky for me that vendor still had it and was willing to sell it, actually for $100 less than the previous vendor was asking the day before. I quickly filled his hand with some $100 bills and the Supermatic was mine! It's identical to the High Standard I used when I was shooting for our base team when I was in the Air Force back in the 60s and I've had my eyes open for one for a long time.

Seriously nice score. I was at that show last weekend and I think I might have seen that. Trouble is I am already tripping over .22 pistols so I didn't even consider it.

Ray, I also have a H-D Military (1946) and there's no comparison as far as I'm concerned. Angle of grip, balance, ease of sight adjustments and etc., the (1969) version has it all over the older model.

Nice find. I shot on the Lackland AFB team 1968-70. Our .22s were S&W M-41s. We had some Ruger .22s but they were nor real popular with the older shooters hence the M-41s. Fun times. I always wanted on the the Hi-Standards with the military grip but never got one.

I also started with a Ruger MKI and then went to the S&W Mod 41 which was a very accurate pistol however, I found that when it became a bit dirty it would malfunction a lot. When I saw and tried the High Standard Military model, I purchased my own. It proved to be highly accurate with very few malfunctions.
I guess that I should mention that I still shoot a lot at 82 and still always watch my 6.

Nice find!
Goes to show even gems can still be found at NorCal shows. I fondly remember the grandeur of the old Cal Expo show. Ahhh, such wonderful memories.

That's a big 10-4! The wife and I go to Reno once a month and stay at the Atlantis and I sometime get lucky and hit the shows next door at the Convention Center. It kills an afternoon or so and I can usually find some parts and the like.

So are you still waiting for it to come out of confinement or has it met its 10day hold? Better you didn’t buy it from the original FFL because how would you have gotten the gun if he was moving out of state.....California makes things so hard on folks.

Can't pick it up until Thursday but with what the wife and I have going on this week, I won't be able to get to it until next Monday.
The way this gun show worked, there was one vendor located in Sacramento doing all the paperwork for gun sales and holding them until the pick-up dates. Seems like a good system.

I have a 107 just like it with extra fluted barrel and weights I bought in the 80s. When I shoot it <once every 3 years or so to keep the cobwebs out> I shoot 40 grain sv but it is not picky on the brand.

I'll be keeping an eye open for a couple more barrels but don't think I need any weights.

I was able to pick up the Mod 107 early this evening. It's even greater now that I've had a chance to put some snap caps in it. I haven't measured the trigger pull yet but, It's really light. I may have to tighten it up a bit. Extractor and spring A-OK. Overall it's really clean but I'll still take the time to clean and check everything prior to a range trip. All that said, I do believe I have a gem.

Back in the day when I shot BE I used a HS Supermatic Trophy with the
7 1/2” fluted barrel. Still have it. You scored well with the extra magazines. Pretty pricey these days for originals.

The only HS I now have is an Olympic Rapid Fire pistol from the 1970s (.22 Short only). Extremely reliable, don't remember having a malfunction. But I did have a rear sight (slide mounted) come apart. I had a difficult time finding a replacement.
