I have the original Kimber Ultra CDP and original Pro CDP's and have gotten wonderful service out of them. I also have the much newer Super Carry Ultra and Super Carry Ultra+.

What do all of the above have in common besides the manufacturer's name?

None of them have the Swartz Safety System. I would never carry a defense gun with the Swartz Safety, nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

I don't want to hear a click instead of a bang when I need to deploy a gun to save my life. Note: all Kimbers with a II after their name have the Swartz Safety. If there's no II, it means it's a conventional 1911 design.

Do yourself a favor and look for either the Super Carry Ultra, or the Super Carry Ultra+.

This is my opinion, others may disagree.

I have a Kimber Pro CDP II. I've carried it extensively and shot about 1,500 rounds out of it over the last couple of years. Never had a hiccup and it is very accurate. The only problem that I had was in finding a round that hit where I wanted it to elevation wise. 230 grain Golden Sabre accomplishes that nicely. I am a little disappointed that the finish on the frame isn't more durable, but any blemishes picked up while carrying it are easily covered with a sharpie.

I have a TLE Ultra ii and its fantastic. The Kimber officer models are well regarded. The firing pin safety has been around a long time. If you don't like just put a 70 series firing pin and and bypass it.

Maybe 1200 rounds thru my Ultra ll with laser grips without issue. I own Kimbers with and without the "Swartz" safety, and have never found it to be an issue over quite a few rounds fired. From what I have read and experienced, the Kimber Ultra (Officers sized 1911's) is one of the more reliable shorty 1911's available.

Never an issue with my Series II Eclipse Ultra in the 8 years i have owned it. Round count is over 2000 now.

If you are unsure of the functioning with the firing pin safety system do as Wishbone says to do.
Drop in a series 70 firing pin and get on with your life.
