Default new Ruger LCP in .22 lr

I shouldn't go to gun shops and say "I wish they made this in .22" because they will hand you one. I had no idea they were even thinking about making these. they just got them in Monday and have sold one every day, including today. neat little pocket pistol that comes with a pocket holster and mag loader. if it ever stops raining I will take to Deno56's back yard and try it out. lee

It should work in the rain; looking for the range test.

I ordered one from Buds and plan to use it as a bug. A friend got one I found it is a fun little gun to shoot. Will drop in the front chest pocket of my bibs just fine.

I hope they are a good one. I love toting a little .22 around the farm. Right now I'm using a Ruger LCR .22

Shooting at running field rats from the tractor seat is a fun challenge.

What’s its size compared to the .380? The same?

Jessie, I didn't do a side by side comparison, but in the case it looks the same or real close. lee

Nice. Thanks for posting. Have a Ruger SR22 that is ultra reliable and fun. Looks like it would do nicely in the front chest pocket of my waders for when I hike in the National Forest for trout fishing. Have been carrying a Berreta BS 950 .25 for the same purpose that had belonged to my Dad but I don't particularly care for it.

It’s nice being a centerfire, though.
Hard to tap rack a new round in when you have a Brookie on.

Let me know how you like it! My local shop has one of these and I have seriously been considering picking it up as a secondary weapon.

I know the one in 380 is the same size but something about the 22LR just caught my attention.

Good pick up sir - I din' know they were out for sale yet. Glock sure beat them to the punch with the G44. I'm anxious to hear how it shoots & especially how reliable it is. I have a similar-sized 2214 that has had zero problems with Stingers - I hope Ruger has done their homework on this one!

I've had one for a little over a week. I think I have about 600 rounds through it. The only problem out of the 600 was Three times the slide randomly held open on a mag with ammo in it. twice with velocitors and once with win 42g max. I ran fed match, CCI 45g subs, CCI mini mags, CCI velocitors. I did try some very old rem bulk but had mostly duds. It was the ammo because I tried it in other weapons too. Accuracy is very good and I was out to 15 yards. Sights are tiny so I painted the front. The slide is very easy to operate, even my arthritic neighbor lady had no problem.

I handled the G44 yesterday. 399. I was tempted

Good news and update sir! Now, I just hafta wait till the second WEDS in FEB (Soc Security) and find one around here. We’re down to only one decent LGS in the area, and they stay crazy busy with transfers. Crook-bela’s is 20-mi away and I can’t stand their trigger locks. I really like my G44 but it’s huge compared to the LCP .22 ....

I'm REALLY looking hard at one of these after watching some vids on you tube. Mainly, one guy who had his kid loading mags and 10 or 15 boxes of different .22lr ammo. One mag of each rapid fire. Problems only with junk ammo, or under powered stuff like CCI quiet. SV worked just fine, along with HV.

But, what really caught my attention was the slide mounted safety! A lever that you just push forward to disengage, or back to safe. No up or down, or button. It also has the trigger safety.

My problem is, it's a very small pistol. I have crookedy fingers due to arthur and just a trigger safety for pocket or AIWB is just too risky for me. I always carried a 1911 cond 1, before my hands went wonky, so I'm used to flicking off the safety.

It sure seems to be a well thought out and functional design feature from Ruger, a very long ways from my early 60s MKI 678 target.

Checked at Cabela's today just for *****s and giggles - no LCP .22. They did have the Glock 44's at $359 and a surprisingly nice Model 41 for $870-ish in the gun room or whatever they call it. I'm poor as a church mouse so I din' check to see if the M41 had the box. One-a-month may be the law here on the 1st of July so they were very busy.

Was thinking of grabbing one of the new LCP 2s in 22 but Buds had a 380 LCP 2 for $174 and I couldn't resist...maybe next time.

I've had one a while. Long enough to add an aftermarket spring kit. I am amazed at it's accuracy. You are going to love it.

I just shot mine for the first time this week too. Wow it was fun. I only got mine because I couldn't pass up on the price, $230!

I have no plans to carry it but could press it into service if needs be. I had one dud round from Federal that wouldn't fire in any of the 22s I brought to the range. Had one other ftf from Federal Automatch out of about 320 rounds fired total. I'm really glad mine will eat Federal and Winchester bulk ammo. I'm not buying boutique ammo for a range toy.

$230 is a steal for one. I was quoted 295 by a LE Distributer who is mostly on the lower end of pricing, with exceptions.

YOW! MSRP is $349, but the realistic price is ~$300-$325. Supply will catch up and prices will come back down.

$230 is indeed a steal.

Yeah I still, can't explain the $230 price I got. Saw the auction and was skeptical but contacted the seller and all seemed right. Figured maybe I'd get hosed on shipping. Nope, only $12. Without every detail of the transaction the seller was one of the best id ever dealt with. Great communication and all around seems like a great guy. Great price, fast and cheap shipping, by far one of my best deals ever and it was NIB.

I'm waiting for this guy, or someone that shares his business attitude to come along when supply begins to catch up. People like him are a pure pleasure to deal with, they aren't trying to retire off 1 sale. With Ruger, I'm sure this is a high priority production, so, it shouldn't be a long wait. Hope I'm not wrong on this account.

Really want one, but not enough to over pay what it's actually worth, ($300 +/-), to me.

I really want one of these. And I would like to send it off to put a good set of night sights on it. Which would cast as much or more than the gun. I've done dumber things.........

Never rely on a .22LR for self defense.

There are inherent problems with the .22LR cartridge, regardless of the quality of manufacture. Let's examine them.

1. The primer is rimfire, not centerfire. A drop of priming compound is dropped into the case. The case is then spun rapidly to get the priming compound to migrate into the rim by centrifugal force. If it doesn't do this evenly, you end up with a no-ignite spot in the rim. If your firing pin hits that spot, it's a dud, and you get killed. This is why Browning designed the .25 ACP, which is basically a center-fire .22. Don't believe me? Look at the dud bucket at the shooting range. Many .22, very few centerfire duds.

2. The bullet is heel-crimped, not seated into the case. This means that the bullet can work loose, either as a manufacturing defect or in handling. If the bullet is loose, it may fail to feed in a semi-auto gun and you have a stoppage, and you get killed.

3. The bullets are lead, not jacketed. Jacketed bullets were designed around the turn of the century, so that self-loading firearms could load them reliably, which they didn't do with lead. If your lead bullet prevents feeding, you have a stoppage, and you get killed.

4. In common with all mouse-cartridges, the little bullet goes too slow for reliable penetration. Insufficient penetration results in superficial wounding, not incapacitation, and you get killed.

.22LR is a sporting cartridge, not a self-defense one.

Nice .22 pistol. Of course, the price and availability of all ammo, including .22 is outrageous. I am glad I am GTG on .22's.

I have been looking at them lately and you can't touch one for under $350.

I will be waiting to try someone’s out. I spent lots of time fooling around trying to find a small 22 auto for carry in field when you aren’t hunting.
Actually looking at 32 size frames. Judging them for accuracy against a m34. Found nothing and a couple were big disappointments, and expensive. Beretta 21 which is 25 size was best I found. SIG mosquito was worst and most expensive. I bought when they rolled them out at $400.
I have steered many people into the LCP/380. I hope 22 version is as good.

The MSRP is $349.99 IIRC

But, I saw many more listed on GB than a week ago, so, supply is starting to show up and prices should moderate a good bit.

I'll be watching a bit closer. The MSRP is Ok, IF it included 2 more mags. But, NOT MSRP plus the cost of 2 mags on top of it. I'm not in that big of a rush, not with a M34-1 snubby to play with.

I picked one up a couple of days ago. Ran a hundred rounds of CCI Minimag solids through it. No issues that weren't user caused (riding slide release, not seating the mag firmly enough).
I'm actually impressed with this little gun. No problems making cans dance out to about 15 yards or so. It shoots a bit to the left for me, but I plan on alleviating that by sending it off for a night sight on the front and a drift adjustable in the back. I have a hard time seeing the sights and have painted the front sight with some bright green fingernail polish.
My wife really had a good time shooting it. The slide is very easy to work with, recoil is very light and the safety will make some feel more comfortable.A good little pistol for walks in the desert behind the house....and fun to plink/practice with.

I FINALLY saw one on GB with a BIN price of $319, sanity has seemed to return to at least 1 seller.

Now, just waiting on my stimulus $$.

I think if you read the fine print at the bottom of the Stimulus check you are not allowed to buy guns or ammo with it ( Or Dr. Seuss books for that matter )

Once it is direct deposited into my checking account that already has sufficient funds for the purchase how could they determine if it was my $$ or, stimulus$$?.

Besides, the seller wants no checks of any sort. I usually use a bank certified check or, a USPS MO. But he will accept neither and that struck me as a bit sketchy.

Haven't done anything yet, since I still haven't received the payment, and am in no hurry.

I bought one a few months back, it shoots and cycles everything high velocity except winchester white box super X so far.

And the accuracy is very amazing for such a short barrel!

Yeah, I get that,

Most of it will simply go to her, she wants stuff for the house, not jewlery or some such. The LCP .22lr is mainly for her anyway. Her 1911 is a bit too much now with manipulating it, just like me.
