What's your thoughts on the value of this pack? It's a 15-2 VH 4 barrel set, barely shot, nickel plated, complete in case!

Holy freaking wow is my thought! Factory nickel plated DW's are quite rare. A complete factory nickel plated pistol pack is the royal flush of DW revolvers.

Nice set. DW prices are all over the place. If you can buy it for $1200, that would be good. If you own it want to sell it, put to up for $1800, you may get $1600 or 1400. Thats my best guess, sorry for the wide range.

A blued dan wesson pistol pac with all the original accessories would be priced at 1600-1900. I’ve never seen a nickel pistol pac.,, so If I was selling I think i would price it at 2500+.

All the above responses are valid and honest evaluations of the DW set pictured. The blued sets (when complete) typically bring around $1500, and like others I have never seen a nickeled set. GunBroker would be the spot to return maximum dollar if you are selling, if you are buying you would be the proud owner of a seldom seen set at whatever price you need to pay. Good luck.

Well, I’m somewhat blown away by the responses. I’m 70 and wondering the value of collecting anything! I am a revolver guy, was determined to sell some cool guns. Python, Diamondback, 627 Lew Horton Hunter, 627-2 Lew Horton, a few others, including this pistol pack.

Nice set, but before I would get too excited I think you should try to find some type of providance.If a factory item vs one that was done in your buddy's plating shop would make quite a bit of difference in price.For S&W`s before anyone makes any predictions its always advised to get a factory letter. I am sure there are DW collectors that would be happy to advise and could be found with a little research. If you purchased it new with sales slip or paper work then thats a whole different story. JMO

I showed it to those at the Dan Wesson forum.
General consensus is that there is no way of telling if it was nickel plated at the factory or elsewhere.

I suspect that getting proof from CZ-USA, the current owner of DW, would be problematic. I do not think there are detailed records of which DW revolvers came from the factory with nickel finishes. All I know is that factory nickel DW revolvers are very rare and I don't think DW actually did the nickel finishing. I'm thinking they actually used an outside service for custom finishes.

I am a DW fan and currently have 2 (way too few) that I EDC and hunt with. As others have stated, nickel plated 15-2 pistol pacs are rare. Pick it up if you can afford it.

For sure this left Munson as a blued pack. LGS said previous owner had it done through the DW factory.
Makes sense that they outsourced nickel plating, as I don't think they offered it.

Thanks again. I found a card in the case that had two dates, February 21, 1982, and February 27, 1982, and it is from Monson.

I don't think the nickel is original. The hammer and trigger should not be nickel. The very few I've seen that I know were original had black hammers and triggers.

You might want to run this by the Dan Wesson forum though. I'm not the authority.

I did so, and general consensus was there were no records kept. A few stated that nickel plating was done off site, and not at the Monson factory.

I've seen a few nickeled DW's over the years and almost bought one, a 15-2 with custom sights.. From the pics, it looks like it's been done very well, and if I was to guess, and that's all it is, a guess, it's a factory job. The aftermarket plated guns I've seen were all done where you could tell it was aftermarket due to detail lost when the bluing was removed and the gun polished up. The hammer could be plated, or it could be from a 715 and be SS. They did odd stuff like that once in a while. There was a new 15-2 in a Vegas gun store in 1982, with a stainless hammer and trigger. Nothing noted anywhere about it, that's just how it came. I almost pulled the trigger on it, I really liked the look of it.

Was looking at maybe selling again.
I contacted CZ, who owns Dan Wesson now, said they’ve retained no records that far back.

The last few pistol packs I have seen on GB started out around $2400. I did not follow sold auctions and they were blued guns.
