Default What did you shoot in the last couple of days?

Since my earliest childhood I was fascinated by guns and enjoyed shooting. I spent decades in shooting competitions of all sorts and flavors but now shoot just for fun. Yesterday I shot my SIG P210-6 at 25 yards with Magtech 124 gr, finding it to perform better than 115 and 124 Geco, or 115gr WWB. The G19 I shot drawn from concealment with double taps at 5 to 7 yards. Most fun I had with the .45 black powder pistol, that is wickedly accurate with 19gr of Pyrodex and round ball, cast from the lead salvaged from my airgun trap.

What did you guys shoot in the last couple of days?

Default Last Shots

Yesterday I took my new Ruger 5.7 x 28 to the range after buying yesterday morning. First time shooting the cartridge.
Absolute blast. Loud crack, hits 12" steel at 100 yards hard enough for me to hear it and move the steel, zero bullet drop and almost no recoil.
I too have had the obsession since I was a kid. I have now been shooting for 26 years. I will be 56 next month. I have not had this much fun shooting a handgun as I did this Ruger and this cartridge in a while.
Oh, I also shot my Sig P238. Just ran a couple mags of my carry ammo thru it (Hornady 90 grain XTP) and the a box of 50 Blazer brass FMJ. Great little pocket carry gun

just posted these yesterday, over in one of the revolver forums, but, what the heck...
15-2 (1966, TT, TH, with wrong stocks, that fit great), 4-screw Model 53 (1961), 2 1/2" 19-5, and a 617 ND-they all went a-blasting, yesterday.
I started my gun fascination early, as well. My first gun was a Savage .22/.410, single shot, that I got for my 10th Birthday. Lost that one in warehouse fire, in 1970, when my family came back from being stationed overseas. Lost my first 870 to a burglar, when I was living in Milwaukee, in '79. Other than that, I have held on to every gun I've ever purchased or been given, over the years (not that many weapons, compared to most of the members here, although I'm starting to catch up, in terms of years...)

Just returned from a duck hunting trip on the Eastern Shore of MD, so the last thing I pulled the trigger on is my old 870.

That brings back memories! I shot my first goose, and 2 more to fill my limit, on a windy day, near St. Michael’s, with my first 870.
Dad took me out of school for the day, but would not let me skip my after-school job at George Washington's place. I had just gotten my DL, and had to negotiate the Bay Bridge, in what felt like hurricane-force wind, while he stayed behind, to hunt a few more days.

The last day of January found me finishing up load testing in a new Remington 308 24” police. Shot out to 600 yards with the 168 smk’s, working with 175’s this next week. It was raining, sleeting and snowing, that is why the action and optics are covered up while guy’s are down range.

This week it was my S&W M631, a 60 year old M41, and a Ruger SP101 chambered for 327 mag. The weather looks good for tomorrow so maybe some rifle shooting at the outdoor range.

Not the last couple days but last Sunday were these two. I did some scope swapping and I like my guns dialed in. I had the leupold 3x9 on that anschutz 1418 it went to the Mauser in 35 Whelen. The anschutz received a vintage Redfield 4X with T post reticle that I just picked up for $20.00. I'm liking that scope a lot.

The girl I hunt with liked the Whelen and it liked her. Check the lower left target.

I just built a dueling tree with ar500 steel 6" plates. I ran about a 1/2 brick through my Ruger Mark ii and Mark iii yesterday ringing steel.

I shot a bunny yesterday morning with an old 16-ga single-shot. Then sighted in and AR pistol in the afetrnoon. I'm taking a post-Super Bowl day off tomorrow. That will be .22 and .45 1911 day!

Yesterday afternoon I went to my shooting club (Argentine Federal Shot of Buenos Aires) and I took a Beretta 92 Combat and a Smith & Wesson 686-3 of 6 ”.
The Beretta caliber 9mm parabellum firing FM ammunition (Military Fabrications) of 124 FMJ grains, is a pleasure to shoot with this gun.
The 686 shot Winchester SJHP ammunition of 125 grains and achieve better results by firing in double action.
It was a good afternoon.

The other day I shot my at my clubs indoor range,
Beretta 21a Bobcat .22
Taurus PT92 9mm
Rossi 720 .44 spl
S&W 624 .44spl
I hadn’t shot the 624 in many many years. The first shot was in the X ring.
That revolver just would eat the center out of the target.
I think I’m falling in love with it again.

Default Special Forces

My United States Fire Arms Premium Single
Action Flat Top 44S&W Special w/adj dovetailed
rear sight and replaceable front blade sight
if need be. Among other Revolvers in my
Range Bag.

My current go to reload for plinking with the
44 S&W Special reload; .431dia. 240gr Lead
SWC Semi Wad Cutter or RNFP round nose flat
point works also..
5.0grs Alliant Red Dot, S&B LP primer
Brass is Winchester, Star Line, or R-P.
Crimp is what I call medium roll crimp.
FPS approximately just under 800?
Bullets tumble lubed with Ben's Liquid Lube,
for Lead free barrel performance.
Primers no where near flat.

The thing about Red Dot is it has enough bulk, that it is easy
to visually see a double charge. Also if you were to over charge
it fills the case. I'm a single stage, small batch reloader anyway.

Other powders I've used and like are; Bullseye,
Unique, American Select, and Long Shot (not much
info out there on this one), and Trail Boss.

Be safe, the Best to you and your Endeavors.

Keeping with Tradition, no pretty pictures from this guy,
you can get an idea of it.

At the the range this past Friday, had a Sig P6, P229 and Browning HP. All 9mm. Ran out of ammo before I got to the HP. I once again realized how great a shooter the P6 actually is. It is an unaltered, standard issue service pistol made in 1980. I think I paid under $400 for it a couple of years ago. A better shooter than the 229 stainless Elite which cost a lot more.

Went to the range yesterday and put about 100 rounds of mixed 357/38 through my 2020 Python.

Another 50 or so 38's through my 1994 Taurus Model 66.

Yes, I played a similar game, Leopold onto my Husqvarna 4100 light weight in 06, gave me a butt kicking, ugly Bushnell onto ugly Savage Tactical in 308... getting a decent group with that one.

New Nikon onto 1951 FN 270, gorgeous all the way around, Maynard P's beautiful, but highly complex mounts finally happy, but "no joy", bolt just kissed the rear bell on the scope, so tear it all apart and start searching for some new glass,,, dang it!

Only my Russian IZH35M target pistol. Due to weather I have only shot on our small indoor bullseye range. 3rd week of league, and I'm seeing just how bad the arthritis is affecting my shooting. May be my last bullseye league.

Yesterday morning I was able to get to the range and shoot my 629.
Load was a 240 grain LSWC over 10.9 grains Autocomp, WLP and twice fired star line brass. Well now it’s thrice fired. By the way this load shoots pretty clean.

No long distance shooting this time around, I just hit the 25 yard range and shot single action from 20 and 25 yards, then did several double action strings from 10 and 15 yards. Great therapy. Hope to get out again next weekend.

Fellow came by last Sunday Looking at a boat motor. I could see he was armed when he exited the vehicle. Rossi 38 left hand draw. Through conversation he stated he was church security while looking at the boat motor. Pointing at targets in the yard I mentioned I like to shoot myself. Neither one of us was gonna show a complete stranger our pistol. He connected with a blank stare from me that “‘some people didn’t even know how many pistols they have’, and the ones that do, don’t have enough’”

Shot a muzzle loader match today. First target was horrible and went downhill from there. Glad to get home.

I know the feeling. I have been there in a long shooting career, I am familiar with the ups and downs - and we all hope for ups. There are match targets I destroyed and tried to forget and then those that I framed.

Don't let it bother you, prepare and next time will be better ( at least the weather mightl be).

Mostly the breeze.

Hoping to get some range time in during the next couple weeks but my sister and her husband are coming to visit in a week and a half. Mom wants to clean up a bit around here.

Have vacation soon after and will certainly get one or two trips in to the range during that.

I had my 64ND, 3” 64-3, and Enfield #5Mk1 Jungle Carbine out the other day. Also planned to shoot my Colt Combat Government, but left the .45ACP ammo at home.

These were my choices for an outing at the indoor range yesterday.
A Mod. 17-3, Mod. 25-5, Mod. 57 and a Mod. 624.

A little over 200 rounds and a great time at the range!

My old pickup.

The darn thing has given me so much trouble I shot it in both heads!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Got a slightly abused 27-2 the other day. Took of the 6" and put on a #1/2" barrel and have been working on loads and sighting in. Wanted one since seeing the one our county sheriff carried years ago. Good fun!

Winchester Hi Wall 50/90 Sharps. Thinkin’ I might like to try it out in the Fall on some critter. Also fired a few rounds out of a 45/90 Shiloh Sharps Quigley model. I don’t shoot them very often but I surely do enjoy the black powder cartridge rifles.

Enjoyed a beautiful day at the range with these guys. And missed the "stupid bowl" to boot.

I finally bought a membership to the local range and have been making sure I go at least once a week. I have been really enjoying my 5.5 inch model 41 but also shoot my m17 4 inch full lug and Kel Tec pmr30..i have had good luck with my kel-tec and its a lot of fun to shoot with 30 rounds of 22mag.
