Question Do you own a Glock?

There seems to be a running joke here in which everytime somebody buys a Glock they have to post a thread about it as if doing so is somehow uncommon or frowned upon, but the joke seems to have lost all meaning since Glocks are among the most common polymer framed, striker-fired semiautomatic pistols on the market.
If anything, it seems to me as if it's more unusual to encounter someone who doesn't own or has never owned a Glock.

So I figured I'd poll it and see just how many Glock owners are among us.

Personally, I don't own a Glock, but I do own a Smith & Wesson SIGMA, which is a Glock Clone.

No. But I shot a few. They are good guns. Just not eye pleasing to me.

Glocks are excellent guns. Well designed and engineered, accurate and reliable. I did own one (30), and if it wasn't made out of plastic, I probably still would.

In 45 ACP they are to beat for the utilitarian, mag swapping, accessory availability and capacity that come inherent with them.

There are finer shooting, nicer looking pistols, but in general, they check a lot of boxes for me.

In 9mm, they are an option, but thankfully, not the only option.

No, but I doubt someone breaking into your house in the middle of the night would know the difference between a RM and a G19.

I will own 3 by the nights out.... they are stupid proof IMO and fairly inexpensive.... they run and run and run. If it ever comes down to it and it has to go to police evidence, my feelings wont be hurt...

I beat the ever loving snot out of my 43x and she keeps going almost 2k out of her and runs exactly like she is supposed to, I'm talking straight mud, dirt, left out in storm's for the reason of reliability...(wife has it now)

My 19 has been my primary edc for some time now.. round count is unknown but I've had her (bought new an earley Austrian G3 model) for about 15yrs and am Now experiencing light primer strikes, so she will be fixed and retired to the house, I tried to do the whole fancy mirror polished slide, but got sick of it. So I had it re coated. Then I put a legion precision RMR slide with RMR on it and I just cant get the hang of it approx 2k on the RMR so she will be replaced with a 19x that will ride until she fails

I have owned two dozen, still have 8 1/2 (29/30sf frame with a Advantage Arms .22 LR kit installed), five 9mm, two .357 Sig, a 10mm.

Glocks are affordable, available, reliable, replaceable, accurate, and easy to maintain. Lots of aftermarket support. The AK of handguns, though it definitely does not appeal to everyone. I live fifty miles from Glock, Inc. in Smyrna, GA where one can walk in with their handgun for service.

I still have the issue gun I was given on my retirement, a Glock model 21. Also kept the model 36 I carried in Crime Scene. Never had a malfunction with the model 21. The model 36 was an early production example and had a few hiccups over the 4 years of carrying every day. I have a feeling that most of the problems with the sub-compact 36 were caused by me though, not the gun.

My son, who is a police officer, also has a trouble free model 21, and a model 30, which has never malfunctioned after more than 20K hardball and duty rounds over 17 plus years.

Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder. In the eye of the LEO that frequently finds himself (or herself) in harms way, reliability is indeed, beautiful.

I had to select the "no, I don't own a Glock" option , but it is not the most accurate option for me.

In March I plan to purchase a G17Gen5, even though I am awaiting delivery of a Sig P320 Xcompact that I recently won. This most likely will be the only Glock I purchase. Historically, I have not been fond of the Glock because it was "Tupperware" and didn't feel right in my hand, but that is changing.

I am purchasing a G17Gen5 for the following reasons:
a) the Gen5 got rid of the awful finger grooves
b) I work my club's GSSF matches, giving the club a weekend in gratitude for their providing me the training to be a Range Safety Officer, so it would be nice to shoot a match during the weekend.
c) being disabled, the GSSF courses of fire are like IDPA-light matches ... combat style without the movement (despite bad legs, I can be competitive with the other shooters).
d) with the prize structure, it can be easier to come home with some form of prize (if you are shooting a pistol you are familiar with).
e) with the GSSF membership, you can typically purchase one pistol per membership year for about 30% off MSRP.

Why yes I do own a Glock, as a matter of fact I own two of them!
First one I ever bought I purchased on a whim, never liked them. This was a like new 27, the original owner bought it, maybe put 50 rounds through it and traded it. The LGS taunted me until I bought, he gave me a real good price so I took it.
This was my entry into .40 cal. and I never regretted it. Shot it very well out of the box,,,,unbelievable!
Several years later I purchased a 33 from my son, he bought it and didn’t like the .357 Sig.
I carry the 27 for CW purposes, the 33 just has a spot in the safe!
One thing though,,,I still don’t like the trigger and that trigger safety business!

No Glock hate here. We own a G19 mainly because my wife wanted one. While it's "her gun," I've changed out the mediocre sights, and run several hundred rounds through it with no issues. It's accurate, dependable, and affordable...despite having virtually no aesthetic appeal. It fills a niche in our family of firearms for home protection. It might not be my favorite firearm, but I don't feel the least bit under gunned with it in my hand.

That's the boat I'm in. I've owned a couple of Glocks but didn't care enough about them to keep them. They were good, reliable, etc., all the stuff people say about them. They just didn't really interest me enough to keep them.

I'm down to just one semi-pistol these days, and it's an SD9VE.

I don't currently have a Glock, but I used to own a Gen 3 Glock 23. I liked it, especially after I put the NY1/"-" trigger combo in it.

They're great guns. The only one that really interests me now is a Glock 19, and I may get one someday. When I was looking to get a compact 9mm I tried out both a Gen 4 and a Gen 5 G19, but they lost out to the Beretta PX4 Compact I also tried, all of them side-by-side (I also tried a Sig P229). I bought the PX4 and it's now my primary EDC. Aside from shooting it better, I also prefer a hammer-fired DA gun and liked that the PX4 Compact is in a similar size class to the G19.

As to posters "apologizing" for getting a Glock, or saying they've "gone over to the dark side," I don't get it either. Now, if they said that about getting a Hi-Point...

Yes, Glock 19 Gen4. Vicker's sights and a flat faced trigger. I probably shoot it more than any gun I own and don't even like it that much. it just plain works!

Long ago and far away, when it was so much better than it is today, I bought a Glock. I was excited to own a Glock . . . until I took it to the range.

Within the first 50 rounds the recoil spring guide broke and locked the gun up. Glock sent me a new one at no charge.

I hated the trigger. I tried every combination of springs and connectors, including the hard to get "target" connector, and the New York spring. Never could get a trigger that I liked.

I also couldn't hit well with it. I to keep everything in the black on a bullseye target with a DA revolver at 50 ft. The Glock went everywhere. A buddy was the DC Metropolitan Police firearms instructor, I asked him what was wrong with the gun. He punched a ragged hole in the target and said, "You're the problem."

I sold it and went back to 1911s.

My nightstand gun is a Glock 30SF .45acp. It is a bit blocky and ugly but it is 100 reliable. I added Trijicon HD sights because one I really don't like the standard Glock sights and two with the large U notch of the rear sight and big dot front I can my old eyes can see the sights. Plus, what's not to love about 13 plus 1 rounds of .45 acp in a fighting handgun.

I have 2 and have owned more in the past. They are very reliable.

I will probably never carry them because I like safeties on my automatics. Most all of the AD's I read about are plastic autoloaders with no manual safety.

Have owned Glocks, but not now. I traded my last Glock (can't remember the model, but it was about the size of a Shield) for a cherry 99 Savage. I still have the Shield but don't carry it.

I have four. One is more homely than the other but they are all totally reliable. I want to look good? I'll carry my Hi-Power or Model 66. I want to shoot good? I'll bring out the Glock 30S.

Yes Sir. Currently I own three. A G19 and G23. Both are Gen4’s. Last month I picked up a G45. All three are superb and almost indestructible.

I’d like to try one of their Sub-Compact models but my hands are just too big.

Default ***FBI Glock 100 Anniversary New Pics***

Just this one. My bride got it back in 2008 when the FBI celebrated it's 100th anniversary. They were only made available to agents through the FBIAA at the time. Glock 22.
Glocks aren't my thing as I prefer bright blue steel. But since she's used Glocks her entire career she's accumulated several over the years that now take up needed space in our safe. Plan to remedy that when she hangs it up for good.

We currently have three Glocks. Not the prettiest, but they are probably the most dependable, pistols available. I personally know of two Glocks that had serious problems. Both were the sub-compact Glock 27's, that the polymer guide rods broke. One had a lot of miles on it, and the other was new on the first box of ammo. I hear a lot on the net about breakage, but it cannot be confirmed. They are what I call my all weather guns. I have been in rain showers that have soaked the one I was carrying and all I did many hours later was break it down and clean it. I cannot say the same for any of the blued guns that I own. If it's blued it is immediately wiped down and oiled, not a real concern with the Glocks. My wife purchase her first G-19 in 1998, and my G-23 has of in excess or two thousand rds thru it, so we have a little data to work with. Maybe not a lot of love for them, but they do work.

I'm down to just one semi-pistol these days, and it's an SD9VE.
I honestly wasn't planning on getting a SIGMA either, although I was aware of them and did like them for their low price. I had originally planned on buying a Ruger SR40, but then I walked into my LGS to buy ammo and found a SW40VE for $199, liked the way it felt in my hands, so I put it on layaway.

I've never owned nor handled a Glock, used to think they were ugly, but have since come to appreciate them for what they are, and it seems as if the world as a whole has warmed up to them over the years as well. Nowadays it seems like the minority are those who still hate on them, hence why I don't think the in-jokes about buying one are relevant anymore.

Of course they would know. As soon as they received more than 6 shots without reloading.😈

Glocks aren't my thing as I prefer bright blue steel 👍 But since she's used Glocks her entire career she's accumulated several over the years that now take up needed space in our safe. Plan to remedy that when she hangs it up for good.😁

That's kinda cool that it has a FBI serial number. The one I pictured above has a KSP, (Kentucky State Police) number. Grabbed it as a police trade in from Bud's then had it modified as you see in the pic.

I think the jokes, I know I've used the "gone to dark side" one are just that. Jokes. Used to intro a plastic gun on a forum that caters to a large extent, blue steel and walnut. I don't think it's a serious condemnation of Glock.

If you are on duty and do have to carry a firearm all day long. Yes. I prefer a Glock. It is light. If you where a sportshooter and like to shoot at a paper target on 25 meter to hit the bullseye. Stay away of it. The triggerpull has a weight that it looks to move a frigurature with just one finger. No. I do not have a job to carry a Glock al day long. i do not own a Glock.

Currently have (4). One of the first 19's when they came out, a very early 27 that has been shot more than all of them put together as it was my duty back-up gun, a 21 that is just fun to shoot, although my FS M&P 45 may shoot slightly softer and the red headed step child 36, that has behavior issues. The 36, while a nice idea, was very poorly designed, with the stupid short grip and the magazine that has the remainder of the frame on the bottom of it, so it pinches the **** out of you with every round fired and with every reload.

I’ve been an self-proclaimed Glock fanboy since the late-1990s and own several. They aren’t much to look at but I’ve always found them utterly reliable and accurate.

I have a Glock 27 Gen 4.

Take it to the range occasionally and enjoy shooting it.I

But I decided it's unsafe to pocket carry a striker fired gun with no safety.

Never was much of a polymer gun liker until I got my Walther PPS M2 and my FNS 9. The difference for me between the FN 9 and a Glock is night and day. Never will down check anyone for owning Glocks though. If they work for you, that's great.

I own a silver slide G-48. Good little pistol, too bad it only holds 10+1 rounds.

I think that’s as cool as a Glock can get.

I own multiple Glocks.

We ditched the S & W M & P and went with Glock for our duty weapon.

Not sure at this point, how anyone can deride Glock's service history and reliability pedigree.

I don't own any Glocks, although my sons and my daughter swear by them. I'm like Kurusu. They just aren't "eye pleasing" to me.

I realize they are very good firearms, but I'll be honest. I'm partial to blued steel and walnut.

I'm the first to admit that I'm out of the norm, but having a gun that is microwaveable and dishwasher safe just seems wrong for some reason. I know they're great, reliable guns, but old habits die hard I guess.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I've always been able to get my deer without having a camo-covered synthetic stock for my rifle. I've also been able to fill my limit of ducks without my shotgun being full camo. I know that doesn't have anything to do with Glocks, it just seems that this, too, is becoming trendy.

I own a bunch of Glocks in 5 different calibers. Never felt the need to confess to the Forum, though. Don’t figure I need to apologize for the tools I choose for a given purpose.

I have several Glocks, and I like them for the form and function. However, I do think they are ugly and have no soul.
