Real Ivory Stocks
I bought this set of stocks from a forum member yesterday and wanted to know if anyone one here might know the maker of the stocks. I've blacked out some of the content so as not to offend anyone's sensibilities.

Well I was hoping she was a Mermaid but no such luck, but you may be right about out of country because I didn't get a grip screw and a standard S&W screw doesn't work.

You might want to ask Dave Keith (keith44spl). He has a set that is somewhat similar...in all her radiant beauty.

Looks like something someone in deck dept would make.
Folks in engineering would probably be on 6 and 6's. They
Would be more worried about getting some rack time than
carve ivory.

Your probably correct Boatswains were well know for that kind of carvings back in the day of sail. However not all engineers were on a 6x6 watch as a HT it was were more like 4x12 for me.

I can tell you who I think did not do them: Paul Persinger. For comparison, see here: http://smith-wessonforum.com/firearm...ight=persinger

I am by no means any sort of expert, but just eyeballing the two stock/grip panels, the workmanship looks different to me. And I am certain the set I referenced are Persinger’s.

When you make Master Chief, you don't stand watches anymore.
On call 24/7.......

When you're the COB you walk with a stoop from smacking the
overhead. Pingers are good people.
I did a non-vol after touring the Barb and going to prototype
in Idaho. Claustrophobia ain't your friend.

Haven't whittled on any stocks in quite some time.......
I wish, I could claim that I carved this set.

My division stood security watches from 6 PM till 6 AM really didn't need security watches during the daylight working hours.
By the time I was close to discharge I didn't stand watches either. I was the senior enlisted in the shop and did 24/7 HT on duty work when at sea.
I really don't know which was worse a 4 hr. watch or getting awakened in the middle of the night to fix a stuck flush valve when the head was flooding. Once it was a ruptured water main at 2 AM.
