Default Lovell Safety Double Action revolver

Just acquired another one of these unique gems. Sold by Iver Johnson 1883-1889. I love the swing out cylinder on these. My first, someone bobbed the hammer. Anyone else have one of these?

Never seen one! I suppose with swing-outs and break-tops, there had to be a sideways one.

I always thought that a worthwhile design. I wonder what kept it from competing with the topbreaks.

I always thought the Lovell design might have been at least some of the inspiration for Sedgley's Lift-Out cylinder on the Colt SAA. No proof, just my thoughts.
Never owned one (either!)
Neat design!
