Yes, another Glock thread
Just picked up a Gen 4 G17, always liked this model. I was torn between the G23 or 17. So I think the 23 will be next pictured is my 9mm shield as well. That thing has been RELIABLE

What, no begging pardon for buying one despite the fact that the majority of folks here own one as well?
But seriously, nice Glock.

Dedicated hobbyist shooters will buy just about anything, if desperate enough for a fix.
Yes, they are good guns - no question. Some people even like them!
Congrats on your new Glock.

As homely as they are aesthetically, Glocks are hard to beat. I’ve been a “fanboy” since the ‘90s.

I've never understood why the Glock in particular gets singled out for being plain or otherwise ugly when there are far less aesthetically pleasing polymer framed pistols such as the H&K VP9, Springfield XD, Beretta APX, Walther PPX, Ruger American 9, Styr M, the list goes on.
Personally, I'll take the simple appearance and straight lines of the Glock over all the other firearms trying so hard to look tactical yet come out looking like chocolate bars with all their pointless little grooves cut into everything.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for utility, but I don't need my pistol to double as an ice scraper for windshields or a cheese grater. Frankly, I'd rather they save on the cost of machining by omitting those worthless grooves everywhere, then pass that savings on to me.

Nothing says a Glock has to be plain.

Skin Deep Beauty
I'm amazed at just how vocal and, at times, emotional people can be when liking or disliking a particular brand of gun or model. The Glocks quickly garnered 60% of the law enforcement market when autoloaders swept revolvers away not because they were svelt or pretty but because they pretty much worked every time. My American Rifleman arrived today and somewhere in it an author states that the Glock 19 is the world's most popular 9mm.
So, it's a matter of personal preference. I will not insult anyone for his choice in handguns. I much prefer the looks and ergonomics of my S&W 39-2 but I own two Glocks and its my Model 19 that accompanies me after dark if I must visit the local stop-and-rob.

I absolutely agree about the reliability of the Glock, especially the Models 17 and 19. I believe the reliability and success of the Glock legitimized this genre of handgun.
But I’ll disagree that the Glock’s reliability is what put this gun in to LE holsters across this nation. A contributing factor for sure, but it was the irrationally beyond “competitive” contracts that Glock gave to ensure the popularity of these pistols.
LE organizations had major incentives to transition to the Glock. Glock’s infiltration of the police market in the US was probably a bigger accomplishment than their handgun was.

I won't argue the point ^^^ other than to say there is some factoids of truth in all internet lore.

Good luck with your glocks, I started with a 19-3 then a 23-4, then a 30SF. I have since learned that a 23 can be converted to a 9mm with only a conversion barrel for around a $100. I wish I had done that myself.

Glocks can say "Wrong house" as loud and clear as anything else on the market.

Glock, the F150 of the gun world. We all like our classics and hot rods, but sometimes you need a truck. However, no FDE or other colors needed. I like my black guns to be black.
