Default Two-fer

Grimjaws "Strayed into the Glock world" post got me to thinking.

Back around Xmas I bought my self a present when AIM surplus had a sale going. (They have way too many "sales" and get way too much of my money as a result.) The sale this time was for a AR pistol in 9mm with a blade brace. It was a couple hundred off because the company that makes them was coming out with a new side charging AR9mm. It is Glock pattern and uses any 9mm Glock magazine. I did buy 1 33rd just because but for the most part bought a load of the inexpensive Korean metal lined Glock 17 mags.

Here 'tis

After I saw Grimjaw's post I got to thinking that it would not be a bad idea to have a handgun that used the same mags. Enter another AIM Surplus sale. They had another batch of the .40 cal Glock 22's in stock. This time from the New Orleans PD. $279 for these, and another hundred dollars at the Glock Store gets me a Glock 17 barrel, extractor, trigger housing with ejector, and some trigger job parts.

I still do not like the grip angle and finger grooves on the later Glocks, but they have this thing called Polymer80 frames. They just so happen to have a 1911 grip angle and no finger grooves. Guess what else I have coming.

So now I get to do one of my favorite things, tinker with guns. When I get done I will have a stable mate for my 9mm AR pistol and both will use the same magazines.

Oh yes, obligatory picture of the NOPD Glock 22.

That NOPD G22 looks in better shape than the one in their advert.

Even the top of the barrel has almost no wear. Just a half mm right at the edge of the slide.

Night sights are dead and I will eventually replace with either stock white dot front/white square rear or my favorite TruGlo Tritium Pro set.
