Default Beretta 92X Performance to buy or not to buy? Help!

Guys I always get great advice from you all. I had my heart set on the brand new Beretta 92X Performance but after shooting the CZ Shadow2 last week(guy next to me shooting allowed me to try his), I didn't like the recoil impulse of the gun. Yes it was soft shooting, trigger was crisp, but the nose kept dipping down as it was quite "nose heavy."

The gun didn't feel well balanced as a result and honestly my Sig P320 X5 Legion is much faster and shoots a lot flatter, especially when you use their lower powered recoil spring along with powder puff loads.

Anyway the only reason I want the Beretta still is because I found two online stores who actually have them in stock so the shallow side of me or should say the irrational side wants to have one just so that I can show off at the range, "Hey look what I got" kind of a thing

But truth be told I like my Smith and Wesson MP 2.0 performance center 5" barrel better than the Shadow and my X5 Legion is probably the best.

anyway your thoughts, do any of you know anyone who has the Beretta 92X Performance? Been told it shoots exactly like the shadow 2

If you want a Beretta the only way to go, in my opinion, is Langdon Tactical!

When I handled the 92 Elite LTT I was very impressed with quality and especially the trigger. Might have to get one myself... I really like the Centurion.

As much as I love the Beretta 92 series guns, I'm not a fan of the 92X Performance. I'd rather get a 92X Compact, or maybe Centurion. The Centurion may suit you better as it is shorter than the full-size guns, so less nose-heavy. For the price of a 92X Performance (or close to it, anyways), I'd rather get a LTT Elite Compact (which is on my wish list, if anyone wants to buy me one... ).

FWIW, I don't find my 92FS to be nose-heavy, and I've never had a problem with the nose dipping while shooting. It goes back where it started. I should add that this is the gun I've had the most trigger time with over the years I've been shooting handguns, so that may be a factor. I'm just used to it. Also, my 92 has neither rail nor Brigadier-style slide, so it may not be an accurate comparison.

I've never shot a CZ, so I can't compare.

The CZ is like 46oz and believe the Performance is 47oz so there is a lot of weight on those guns. The regular 92s are like 30oz so quite a difference in weight. My X5 Legion is like 42oz but the reason that is fast is because it is heavy but also well balanced. Sig did an amazing job with that model.

My 92 FS is a very smooth and well balanced shooter, plus it's very accurate. It is heavy, and even with slim grip panels it's fat.

My Beretta PX4 is as accurate, much lighter, and giving credit to its rotating barrel, a much softer shooting gun.

I've never even considered the Performance gun for the money spent, when the two I have shoot and look so good.

Ah! I forgot the Performance is all-steel. I can see how that might change the balance. Sorry about that.

The performance can be safed with the hammer back, and carried cocked-and-locked. It lacks the slide- mounted safety. For some folks this is better for competition.

A little late for this thread but the thumb safeties make an old 1911 guy very happy and at home. My very first Beretta.

I take it that you are looking at these handguns for Target/competition shooting and not CCW?

The CZ Shadow 2 dominates the competition Centrefire Pistol market here in Australia. It's meant to be the number one gun in IPSC Production matches too.

As the CZ is a traditional double action without a decocker, you do have to be careful when lowering the hammer for that first DA shot.

Garrett Lucas recently published an article in the July/August 2020 edition of Combat Handguns where he compares these two handguns. Typical for a gun magazine (not wanting to upset advertisers) he couldn't decide what was best.
