Default Remington 1858 Deluxe

I bought this pistol in the year of 2000. Never really shot the pistol much so I sold it to a good friend who wanted to try a black powder. Long story short, I ended up with the pistol again and thought I’d see how it shot.
The cylinder throats measures .456 and the gain twist barrel measures .455. I used a Hornady .457 round ball with 24 grains of 3f Goex with a lubed wonder wad. No filler, so the ball made quite a jump into the rifling.
Target shot at 25 yards off a rest. Not a bad six shot group, now to get it zeroed in.
Ken

I have 2. A brass framed so-so copy with fixed sights and a nice Pieta steel frame adjustable "Target Model."

I have 8 or 9 44 C&B revolvers that have several sized bores. I only buy Hornady .457 for all of the them.

What is your load and brand of powder?

Ivan

Looking at that shot group, that thing has a 24 yard long barrel, right?
Do a happy dance - that group is amazing to me for a round ball gun!

I loaded it with 24 grains fffg Goex behind a lubed wonder wad and a .457 round ball. It’s not a load I worked up, this is the first group I fired with it.

It's going to be tough to improve on that.
