PYTHON RETURNING!!!
BREAKING NEWS!!!
I JUST GOT an email from HARTFORD, CT.
MY COLT’S 2020 PYTHON MAGNUM REPEATER PISTOL IS ON ITS WAY BACK!!!
As some of you may or may not know, I was one of the first in the world to receive the new 2020 Colt’s Python. It had issues though, and had to be returned. Guys it should be here by Sat. Going to do a full and complete debrief then. Look forward to it, gang!!

It will be interesting to see if all of the issues were adequately addressed.

Good to hear. Hope you get it back with all the necessary improvements. Seems we hear more of QC problems these days. No small wonder!! These issues didn't seem to exist nearly as much years back. Let us know if your satisfied with repairs.

I hope they tell you what they did to fix the problems, and not just send it back with no explanation. Did yours have a crown problem?

UPDATE:
PYTHON IS BACK. Here it is along with my new Ted Blocker holster I ordered a while back:
First off, the gun shoots extremely well. I put 100 rounds of HOT 125 grain Remingtons and Federal through it this afternoon with 0 failures. Colt repaired the dinged crown very nicely. But, it seems that’s about all they did. The cylinder gap is still almost not there, super duper tight. With that said, it did not appear to cause any issues even after the cylinder got mighty hot from rapid fire 125 grain magnums. Perhaps Colt engineered the new Pythons to work with such a tight gap? Might still ring them about it to make sure.
The cylinder latch is still a bit stiff and “catchy”, but I feel it is starting to break in. The didn’t seem to really mess with it so I’m hoping it breaks in eventually. If not, I’ll ring Colt again.
The singl action pull is much improved over last time. Colt recently released a video saying they redesigned the mainspring to make sure it sets off all primers. I think my gun has the new spring. The double action feels a bit heavier but still buttery, buttery smooth. Like I said single action is not superb. Very nice indeed.
So two problems are certainly fixed, one problem appears to not really have much effect at this point (tight BC gap) and here’s to hoping the cylinder latch smoother out, I think it is starting to. The gun was incredibly fun at the range. I wished I’d brought more ammo for it. The long barrel soaks up the 125 grain recoil nicely.
Will keep everyone abreast on range reports and stuff. Take care all!
-Jay

Honestly, I’d hold off. You have the more proven revolver, very nice gun.

JayFramer,
You have a very, very fine revolver and it'll serve
you a lifetime.
But only one problem with it: If you allow it to
sit on a table top or in a closet or drawer or
in a safe for more than two months, it'll go out
of time!
So use it regularly.

JayFramer, if you aren't having any binding problems after shooting, then don't worry about the B/C gap being on the tight side. As long as you aren't binding up you are golden. And believe me, the more you shoot it the more the B/C gap will grow.
Glad to hear you got it back and are getting to have some fun with it now. I might buy one later on in the year myself.

I actually bought it from being inspired by California Highway Patrol and their use of the 6” barrel Pythons for duty use. They used a similar swivel holster. I am fully aware it is not an exceptionally practical holster but I am very happy with this Ted Blocker rig and it works well for carrying the gun, and certainly has a “1970s cop” cool factor going on.
I’ve found every season since the 2nd of the Walking Dead to be quite depressing and boring at the same time. While we’re at Nerd Factor 11, I actually became interested in the Colt Python from its use in the video game Half-Life 2 by the scientist Gordon Freeman. But that’s neither here nor there.

Is that a swivel holster? Doesn't look like it. Ah, Half-Life! I gotta re-install those games. They're one of the few games I have left that will work on Windows 10. I remember the Python in that game, as well.
