So, let's hear it for the fancy MSR
As long as we're playing the pretty gun game this week, it occurs to me that the classic "black rifle" can be gussied up to be more than before. So, if you have any MSR-type rifle that is "more" than a standard AR or AK here's the place to show it off.
For instance, I have a tremendous fondness for olive drab. That goes back decades. I need to move on to "FDE" but that will come in the future. Here's an MSR all greened up:

Not a Smith and Wesson, but my main competition and home defense rifle. Aimpoint and Leupold Mk4 are both on QD mounts so the same platform can be tailored to the application of the day. Also a fan of your OD/Range/Foilage greens. No desire to go to FDE because... well I live in a temperate climate.

When it comes to AR platforms, I guess I'm old school. The blacker, the better.
Daniel Defense M4 Carbine. All ambi controls and QD accessories.

Well, I do have a black one, also. Just no picture. I'll fix that eventually.
I use red dot scopes on mine. The picture above shows the rifle with its pop up iron sights but I have a Meprolight for it to replace the one that was ruined by water that got into my safe during the April 2018 fire. The rifle is fine!

Oh, wait. I lied! I forget I have this (.223) Remington VTR Predator, too, and it's not black.

“MSR” is such a pandering and politically correct term.

THAT'S TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I totally agree. But the point of the term "modern sporting rifle" is to take "tactical" out of the discussion as much as possible.
When anti-gunners ask why do you need a military weapon like "that" isn't it easier to say it's a sporting rifle for target practice and hunting or modern shooting competition like 3-Gun and not for just the battlefield?

"..."modern sporting rifle"..."
Thanks for telling me what MSR meant. I know, if I was cool, I'd know all the acronyms. It's too late for me, save yourselves.

I've got one in OD green too. Also one in FDE. I can't decide which I like best.

Well I had an SP 1 from 1980 until the divorce sell off in 2011, she wanted that one. The classic that I have now is a complete M16A1 upper with original barrel on a Spikes lower with a M16A1 butt stock that came with the upper. All very old school.

U S Service rifle for 55+ years . hard to argue with . I like mine staight up , NATO calibers and without all the popular Do Dadds . just me , to each his own . the more law abiding American Paitriots who own such guns make our country a safer place . kenny

Adams Arms SF-308. Added the POF trigger, Samson handguard, then professionally Cerakoted in Noveske Bazooka Green.
Parts gun inspired by the old Shootrite Katana. Faxon 20" 5.56mm pencil barrel, Geissele SSP trigger, lots of other parts but most are obvious from the pic.
Parts gun. Model 1 Sales 5.56mm 20" fluted upper, Geissele G2S trigger...my Magpul catalog gun. Duracoat FDE by yours truly.

boykinlp, nice setup you have there, looks like a fun piece.
I'm thinking about getting a .223 conversion .22lr kit since my gun club stopped allowing us to use rifle rounds in the pistol pits.

10 rd magazines meet 99.9999999% of your shooting needs.
20 rd magazines are good to go if the........ SHTF
30 rd magazines are reserved for TEOTWAWKI or Zombie Apocalypse

To be absolutely honest about it, I've never been a fan of the AR-15. This goes back to some bad experiences with Uncle Sam's M-16A1 back in the early to mid 1970s. Swore I'd never own one.
But a couple of years ago the antis were in full Ban 'Em mode, I finally gave in and bought a M&P Sport II just to have one and piss 'em off. Nothing real fancy. I've got it set up for close to intermediate range use.
Well, since I had already made the plunge, I got to thinking about a PDW. Preferably in a pistol caliber because I've learned that AR pistols in rifle calibers are darned LOUD! I settled on the ARish Extar EP-9 in 9mm. Maybe not the most practical weapon, but I can take it over to my clubs Action Pistol range and its an absolute hoot to shoot!
