Default Got new Python to fight off Coronavirus

Ha! Made you look!

Actually I broke out an old "Python" to fight off the incredible boredom of not being able to go shoot!

I'm taking all of the advice about not going anywhere unless it's absolutely necessary seriously. That includes going to the range. Boy I really envy the country folks who can literally just go shoot in their own back yard. They frown on that in the suburbs.

Anyhow, I got this for my son when he was a little guy (He's 26 next month.) I built a target trap out of a big cardboard box, and we used to shoot airsofts, his Red Ryder, and this down in the basement. I'll bet it's been 10-12 years since we shot down there.

I figured what the heck, shooting a pellet gun is better than not shooting at all. It doesn't do too bad. I can manage about 30-33 feet in my basement, so I reduced a standard 50 foot target about 78%. Here's what I did.

That one really low shot and the two just out of the black were with reclaimed pellets. I wanted to see if I could reclaim and shoot them again. Apparently not, or at least not consistently.

This reminds me of MY Crossman 357. I got mine as a teenager back when they first came out in the 80s. Those older ones were closer copies of an actual Python, and were 6 shot. I really loved mine.

Oh well, this will have to do for the forseeable future. Oh, and I also dug out my old rubber X bullets for the .38s These are primer powered, but tougher to make shoot. I'll need to play around with those a bit. As I recall, there were poi differences and other issues. I bet its been 20-25 years since I shot those.

Probably a better gun than what Colt is calling the new Python now.

Or shall I say, the product they will NOT stand behind if there is something wrong with it.

Rant off.

Seriously, awesome BB gun. Would look cool with a layer of silver spray paint.

I seen one in schofield at Wally World a few years back. Bought ammo instead. Wish I’d bought it. I do have a colt peacemaker though.

Just make sure you use copper jacketed bullets!

Copper is very effective against germs.

How loud is your Pynthon? I’ve been looking for a low noise bb or pellet gun for indoor apartment target practice during self isolation/quarantine.

Kinda rough on the pelt, isn't it? Virus is sort of small.

Nah, supposedly with a Keith SWC you can "eat right up to the hole."

That's a cool looking gun! I found a Crossman pump BB/pellet gun a few months back for $40. I couldn't pass it up. I grew up shooting one when they first came out back in the 60's. I think Dad bought it more for him, but it was everyone's! It had real wood and in the directions it said 25 pumps had the power of a .22! Whatever. But I shoot my plastic Crossman in my basement, and sometimes outside. I don't think we're allowed to shoot BB or pellet guns in the city (Pittsburgh) but where I live we have pretty decent-sized yards and even better neighbors. Yes, OP, it DOES break the boredom of being on "lockdown!" BTW, 2 pumps in my basement, almost 25ft., gets me spot-on-target! Many beer boxes have met their fate at the hands of my trusty Crossman!

I have a recently made Crossman 22 "classic". Manual says 8 strokes max and I will say the last 2 get fairly stiff so I usually stop at 6. A dozen shots or so with 8 strokes and I've had an upper body workout, LOL.

Yeah, I'm planning to look for an inexpensive pump pellet pistol on my next supply run when the wife allows me out. This is not exactly "target grade" plus I don't want to depend on CO2 cartridges.
