Smile Heavy Double Action Trigger Pull

Colt New Service and Webley Mk VI has a heavy double action trigger pull-
Was these weapons designed for mostly single action firing or double action ??

From what I've been told Enfield No2s were supposed to be used up close and personal with rapid DA fire. No staging the trigger or any of those games, just point and heave. I suspect that other than for single action target shooting, the use of the Webley was much the same.
