03 Springfield National Match
The last gunshow I attended was Louisville in Feb. I was on the hunt for a nice 03 Springfield National Match. There were 2 very nice ones there. One was an 03A1 with the pistol grip stock and the other one was an early S stock. I chose the latter because it had a mint bore, a Springfield Research Service letter and a M1921 bore and sight protector. The early one also had a Lyman 48 receiver sight because it was sold through the DCM to a civilian who wanted the receiver sight as an option. You have to shoot military sights in the National Matches. I googled WG Hansen from Sacramento Ca. He was the Captain of his shooting team and most likely used this rifle in the National Matches at Camp Perry in 1923. Almost 100 years ago ! Bill

The whole family of 1903, M-1 Garand, M1 carbine, and M14 are just plain "cool". To add that provenance to the rifle is icing on the cake. Pardon my outdated expressions.

You did well getting that rifle.
I built an ersatz 03 match rifle on an 03 action with an 03A3 barrel and a "C" stock. It's not an original like yours, but it's fun to shoot.
