I am such a big fan of the 1911 that I was born on John Moses Browning's Birthday
The first NEW auto loader that I ever purchased was a Colt Gold Cup back in 1977
Here are some of the more unusual ones
My BBQ gun is a Royal Blue Colt Gold Cup Commander wearing Factory Ivory and usually carried in a Galco Windsor holster. So far it has been to 5 funerals, 4 weddings and 3 Inaugurations
My carry Gold Cup Commander is stainless, wearing Factory walnut grips.
I like serial numbers. When Colt reintroduced the Series 70 1911's I got a hold of serial number 70. This one I have left unfired since it departed the factory. I have lots of other 1911s to shoot.
I know you mentioned long slides. I have bot the Hardballer and Javelina long slides
As other long slides go, I have a nice Les Baer TargetMaster
Back when 45 SUPER was just getting started, Springfield was one of the few companies selling guns specifically set up for the cartridge. I replaced the factory grips with a set of Ahernds
A few summers ago, I built THOR, a long slide for the 10MM Auto. It is fitted with an aristocrat sight, on a STI slide that was hand lapped to the frame. The trigger bow had ball bearings to reduce friction for a 100% safe and repeatable 2 1/2" pull. The oversize mag release is very obvious. Esmerelda O'Sheen scrimshawed Thor's hammer into the grips with her celtic knot checkering
For the 100th Anniversary of the 1911, many manufacturers were doing special pistols. The Kimber "Centennial" has a color case hardened frame from Doug Turnbul, some light engraving and Ivory stocks
I really love Turnbul's color case hardening

poorphil only has one 1911, but it's a pretty good one. Colt's Gold Cup
National Match series 80. Reliability package and Mountain Tuff finish
by Karl Sokol. Big dot up front by AO. Grip panels cocobolo by Herrett's.
2nd and 3rd from left a couple of it's favorite holsters.
2nd from left is a Heiser 728 carved and laced. Texas Gunslinger matching
belt, Navajo silver buckle by Nezzi. 1911 knife by Ultimate.
3rd from left is a Brill-Persons made by and gifted to me by my friend
Red Nichols. He also made the Sidewinder belt.

I'll play.
Re-finished Ithaca 1911a1
Colt/Rem Rand AA rebuild
Picked-up both of these from Gunsite last summer. I added the Kimber ambi's.
Govt Model
LW Commander
After buying the two Colt's from Gunsite, I found this LB TR in a gun shop in Prescott. I decided to pass after dropping over 2K on the Colts. Unfortunately it was still there when I went back a week later, so I had to buy it. Especially since they are now dis-continued.

I have a couple of 1911s. One cheap one and one not so cheap.
My first 1911 was the cheap one, an ATI Government model clone.
Then last year I splurged and bought a custom. This is an Alchemy Custom Weaponry Prime Elite. It's also a full size 1911.

Here's a 1918 Colt's that went through a A.A. refurb. Seems about all they did to this one is parkerize it and get rid of the wood grips. I don't think that it has been fired since it left A.A.

Only have 2 now. Sold a Series 80 stainless Officers model a few years back when I pared the herd down some.
RIA GI model that I had Heinie sights put on and then I converted it to use the dual spring recoil system that the M45A1 uses these days. I have also since this picture trimmed the hammer to eliminate hammer bite. I took about 1/8 to 3/16 off.

Dear Friends, Not a 1911, but a Combat Commander that Robar slicked up for me in the late 1980’s.
Stay safe!

Love it. 80s-ish retro + two-tone finish.
And yes, that's a 1911.

Dear Cont. Op.,
Thank you! Yes it is retro. Probably closer to 60’s or 70’s retro because comp guns were all the rage when I had this one worked over.
Stay safe!
