.22 Rings?
Can anyone recommend a high quality set of rings for a 3/8” rimfire dovetail? I did a search on the google and a lot of airgun junk and not much else. Anyone have any experience?

I’ve been real happy with Warne rings on my .22s. Not cheap, but good quality...

+1 on the Warne rings. I mounted a set of their quick detatchable rings on my late '50s vintage Anschutz sporter.
Best regards,

Check out Rimfire Central forum. Plenty of knowledge on anything 22 on that site. Ask that same question and they will want to know make of the rifle and scope, and then you will prolly get several pics of options.

Burris Z-rings, BKL, Warne.....I use them all on various 22's and air rifles. All good choices.

I don’t know who makes what any more. When buying 22 rings for 3/8” dove tails make sure they are steel.

I've bought two sets of 1" tip-off Weaver ring sets from eBay for less than $10. One for my Remington 550 and one for my Remington Nylon 66. I prefer 1" scopes, and the Weaver rings seem fine for that purpose. This is a set on my Remington 550 with a Weaver K4 scope.

On a 22 LR pump, bolt, or lever action; any quality set of rings will give satisfactory service. On a semi-auto, grooved receiver rings will "walk off" the back of the receiver as you continue to shoot.
You need a base that attaches to the receiver with screws, than add a set of low rings and your scope of choice. Grooved receiver base and rings did not work on my 9# Ruger 10-22 with a serious stainless steel bull barrel. Grooved receiver rings did not work at all on a stock lightweight Winchester M290 22 LR semi-auto rifle in the mid 1980's.

Has it walked off the receiver, as some are saying it will?

As suggested above both Warne and Burris rings work great. If you are setting it up for long range shooting with .22 LR, the Burris Signature Zee rings work well as you can put up to 40 MOA of angle on the scope with inserts.
----
One thing to be aware of is that some dovetailed receivers take 3/8" rings and some take 11mm European rings.
If the receiver has a rounded top, it's a 3/8" dovetail (always). If the top is flat, then it's (almost always) an 11mm dovetail.

No. It stays in place on both .22s, both semiautos.

Thank you. I’d prefer just to buy rings as the receiver is not drilled and tapped for a mount.

I used the Leupold .22 Rimfire 3/8" Split Rings, Product Number 57405, to mount a Leupold FX-1 4 X 28 Rimfire Scope on my Browning BL-22 Grade II.

I think this is a great mount for tipoff receivers.

My experience with grooved receivers or grooved mounts and semi-auto .22 LR rifles is limited to a Savage 187-C and a couple Ruger 10-22s over the last 41 years that I've owned and shot .22 LRs. However, I have never had the rings slide on a grooved receiver or mount, either forwards or backwards. Yes, there is probably some minor slide hammer effect from the bolt going forward and stopping against the barrel face. No, the rings won't slip, if they are properly torqued and properly fit the receiver.
I have a lot more experience with grooved receivers on bolt action, slide action and lever action rimfires and again I have never had rings slip on the groove.
I suspect there may be an issue with people putting 11mm rings on 3/8" grooves and vice versa where they don't fit quite right, but that's a separate problem.
