Here is my 1990 serial numbered Taurus 94 .22lr 3inch. Anyone else have one? I picked this up for $348 out the door, it’s not like my 34-1 Smith but it does the job and my wife and kids enjoy it too.

I was told by Taurus that this is under their Legacy Guns, meaning it comes with the full lifetime warranty. Anyone else vouch for that?

I don't have a model 94, but I do have an early (1990) Taurus Model 96 six shot. It's basically a model 17 clone. I bought it before I got my S&W .22's and have been very happy with it. While the trigger is not as quite as smooth as my S&W's, it shoots great and is very accurate. The trigger stages in double action and breaks crisp as if in single action. So far, it has performed flawlessly and has been 100% reliable.

Here's my Taurus Model 94 .22. I used it to teach quite a few folks how
to shoot. My great-grandson kinda liked it, so I gave it to him, along with
a couple of holsters.
BTW those boots came from Altamont.

In Omnia Paratus

I have a Taurus also, its a 941 3 inch full lug barrel, 8 shot 22 mag. I am not sure of its age, but it has a very good blued finish not the black look they have now. Its been in the night stand for over 20 years.

I have one of these too and my experience mirrors your experience. Not as nice as a S&W, but not as expensive either.

A couple of years ago my local gun store put a S&W 617 on hold for me. When I went to pick it up, there was a freshly traded Taurus 94 under the glass. A little wheeling and dealing and that one went home with me too.

Great shooting .22 revolver.

I ended up finding a Taurus 96 myself from a coworker. Serial is December 1993 build.

I also have a 94. Hated it at first, terrible trigger pull and misfired at least once on every cylinder and then would start locking up. Sent it back to Taurus and and they returned it seemingly fixed. My son and I decided to see if we could wear it out and set out to run 10,000 rounds through it in a single season. We only made it to around 8500 rounds that year but by now it is probably pushing 20,000 with no issues. Remember 22 LR was $6 a brick back then. Trigger has smoothed up considerably.

A few years ago I bought a new 94.
Trigger was very gritchy. Should have had it
smoothed up, instead it got traded away.

I have had several early edition Taurus 94’s. They were excellent quality guns and I never had a single issue with any of them.

I had no idea that there were this many other Taurus Model 96 owners!
It appears to be the one Taurus model that nobody ever seems to have a complaint about.
My experience is much the same as you other gentlemen. I've also found it to be a very good gun for the money.
It was my very first rimfire revolver, and I liked it well enough, yet I wound up getting a S&W 18-3, 617-0, and 34-1 as well as a Dan Wesson Model 22 to round out my rimfire revolver selection.
I suppose there are worse "addictions" to have!

A 94 4" and a 94 stainless Ultralight snub here. Trigger on the older 94 is well broken in and smooth. Trigger on the Ultralight still a bit stiff due to much, much lower round count. Agree with consensus, not quite S&W quality or price but certainly serviceable/manageable and worth hanging on to.

Have a couple little 9 round speed loaders that add to the fun...

My 94 4" came direct from Taurus as a replacement for a PT22 that came apart in my hands while firing. Had 2 PT22 that both failed, got a 94 and a 8 3/8" 44 Mag as replacements direct from Taurus. Hard to complain about that customer service.

I've had two 94s in my life. The first one was a joy to shoot and I really liked it, but, life happened and I needed to sell it to buy groceries. Many years later I found a used one at a gun show and adopted it. It turned out to be somebody else's problem child, as my cylinder bore Winchester 1897 12 ga. grouped better than it did. The next gun show, it got traded on something else. I would get another one though if I could find one.

Here's the current (February 2021) warranty page on the Taurus USA web site. Link Hotloader, it looks like the relevant section in your case is "All legacy firearms covered under the original lifetime warranty will remain covered by that warranty."
